EJ Haust, a digital marketing expert and former journalist who lived in Minnesota for 12 years before relocating to Tennessee, said President-elect Donald Trump’s meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at Mar-a-Lago was a “power move” that signals how America is back as a “superpower” nation under a second Trump administration.
Trudeau met with Trump at Mar-a-Lago on Friday, days after the president-elect threatened to impose a 25 percent tariff on all goods coming into the U.S. from Canada and Mexico until the two bordering countries work to stop the flow of drugs and illegal immigration into the U.S. via executive order.
During the pair’s meeting at Mar-a-Lago, Trump reportedly joked with Trudeau and suggested that Canada become the 51st U.S. state if the 25 percent tariffs cripple Canada’s economy.
Haust, on Tuesday’s edition of The Michael Patrick Leahy Show, said Trump’s suggestion to Trudeau was a “power move” that let Trudeau know “exactly where he stands.”
“It was brilliant, and now Trudeau knows exactly where he stands,” Haust said.
Haust added that Trump’s tariffs and other plans, which he has vowed to carry out once inaugurated on January 20, 2025, as the 47th U.S. president, also signal that America is back as “a superpower as a nation.”
“It shows why we are a superpower as a nation. It also just says dad’s home and he’s pissed everybody’s been acting up. All of you little teenagers all over the world throwing temper tantrums and pushing the limits, dad’s home and everybody’s getting punished. You’re going to get back in line. I appreciate that in him,” Haust said.
Haust further admired Trump’s boldness in pursuing his agenda, explaining how the president-elect has emboldened Americans with confidence since his victory in the presidential election.
“I think it’s given all of us – as voters, as people, as citizens of the United States – it’s given all of us confidence, and that’s probably the best part of the whole election, quite honestly. Obviously Trump is going to do what Trump is going to do, but we are bold now,” Haust said.
