All 11 members of the Tennessee congressional delegation have publicly issued statements following Saturday’s assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Minutes after Trump took the stage in Butler at approximately 6:13 p.m. on Saturday, a suspected shooter – who has since been identified as 20-year old Thomas Matthew Crooks from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania – fired multiple shots toward the stage from an elevated position outside of the venue.
Crooks, who shot and killed one spectator and injured three others including the former president, was fatally shot by Secret Service personnel.
Trump was grazed by a single bullet in his upper right ear.
U.S. Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN) appears to be the latest member of the state’s congressional delegation to speak with Trump amid the assassination attempt.
Just got off the phone with @realDonaldTrump. He’s feeling great and stronger than ever.
We’re excited about a very special week here in Milwaukee.

“Just got off the phone with [President Donald Trump]. He’s feeling great and stronger than ever. We’re excited about a very special week here in Milwaukee. I’ve never met anyone tougher than President Trump,” Hagerty said in an X post on Sunday afternoon.
Trump landed in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for the Republican National Convention as scheduled on Sunday less than 24 hours after surviving the assassination attempt.
Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), who is set to speak at the Republican National Convention this week, was among many leaders who shared a GoFundMe fundraiser on social media for the families of the three victims of Saturday’s shooting.
“Please continue to pray for the innocent rally attendees who were injured, and tragically one senselessly killed, in Butler yesterday,” Blackburn said.

This is a horrific day in our nation’s history.”
In addition to Hagerty and Blackburn, all nine of Tennessee’s congressional members currently serving in the U.S. House of Representatives – Diana Harshbarger (R-TN-01), Tim Burchett (R-TN-02), Chuck Fleischmann (R-TN-03), Scott DesJarlais (R-TN-04), Andy Ogles (R-TN-05), John Rose (R-TN-06), Mark Green (R-TN-07), David Kustoff (R-TN-08), and Steve Cohen (D-TN-09) – also released statements amid Saturday’s assassination attempt of the former president.

Violence has no place in political arena or America. It’s antithetical to our political system. Elections are won or lost at the polls. Thankfully Trump wasn’t killed.
— Steve Cohen (@RepCohen) July 13, 2024
Cohen, Tennessee’s sole congressional Democrat, also reacted to Saturday’s shooting, saying, “Violence has no place in political arena or America. It’s antithetical to our political system. Elections are won or lost at the polls. Thankfully Trump wasn’t killed.”
Our prayers are with President Trump, and we look forward to his speedy recovery. We are grateful to law enforcement who reacted so quickly. Such violence has no place in our country. Whoever is responsible must be held accountable.
— Rep. Mark Green (@RepMarkGreen) July 13, 2024
Green, who chairs the House Homeland Security Committee, said his “prayers are with President Trump” and thanked law enforcement for its response to the shooting, adding, “Such violence has no place in our country. Whoever is responsible must be held accountable.”
As chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, Green also sent a letter to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas requesting all communications and relevant documents leading up to and after the failed assassination attempt of Trump.

Other notable Tennessee leaders who spoke out after Saturday’s assassination attempt of the former president include Governor Bill Lee and Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti.
Lee and his wife, First Lady Maria Lee, asked Tennesseans to join them in “praying for President Trump & his family, & all who were in attendance at today’s rally in Pennsylvania.”
Skrmetti added, “Our prayers continue to be with the people of Pennsylvania and the families of those who lost loved ones at the hands of evil. We’re truly grateful for the skilled doctors and nurses who have been treating those injured, and we will continue to pray for the safety of all involved.”

I cannot stand the whitewashing of this bug eyed weirdo’s actions with his convenient weasel words.
Glad he wasn’t killed versus thrilled he was shot.
