Florida Governor and Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis traveled to the U.S.-Mexico border in Arizona on Wednesday and held a roundtable discussion on border security efforts with sheriffs from across the nation.
During his visit, DeSantis touted efforts taken by Florida to combat illegal immigration within the state and along the southern border, such as relocating illegal aliens who wish to be transported to sanctuary states and cities.
The chaos we are witnessing at our southern border is a direct result of the President’s dereliction of duty

DeSantis announced that Florida’s law enforcement agencies are offering training for other states that wish to follow the Sunshine State’s lead on efforts to address the impacts of illegal immigration.
The inter-state law enforcement partnership includes a training program developed by the Florida Highway Patrol and the Florida National Guard’s Counterdrug Task Force which will “explain Florida’s response to the Biden Border Crisis and train law enforcement officers in multi-agency criminal interdiction.”
According to the governor’s office, the initiative builds upon DeSantis’s “previous actions to step up and lead the border security fight President Biden has abandoned.”
“Joe Biden is derelict in the performance of his duties and refuses to uphold the borders of our nation,” DeSantis stated. “In Florida, we’re stepping up even as the federal government falls down on the job. We enacted strong legislation to combat illegal immigration, sent law enforcement officers and equipment to the border, and have dedicated resources to divert migrants to sanctuary jurisdictions. Today we’re taking Florida’s no-nonsense approach to border enforcement nationwide.”
During the roundtable on Wednesday, Polk County, Florida Sheriff Grady Judd said that DeSantis is “the best governor that the state of Florida has had in the last 50 years.”
“When people are safe and they feel safe, they thrive. And our great state does tremendous,” Judd added.
