Freddie O’Connell Sworn in as Nashville’s 10th Mayor

Freddie O’Connell was sworn in as Nashville’s 10th mayor on Monday at a private ceremony, officially succeeding John Cooper.

O’Connell was sworn in by Judge David Briley, who also served as Nashville’s eighth mayor. O’Connell’s youngest daughter, Violet, held the bible as her father took the oath of office, according to photos from inside the historic Metro Courthouse.

Following his private swearing in ceremony on Monday, O’Connell’s first order of business was signing certificates for the 104th session of the Metro Nashville Police Department Training Academy.

“This is our moment to open doors of opportunity, to keep our homes affordable, and to invest in our neighborhoods, so Nashville is a place where you want to stay – and can stay,” O’Connell writes on the official website of the Nashville Mayor’s Office.

An official inauguration celebration will take place on Saturday, September 30, where O’Connell will be publicly sworn into office. During the day, the mayor will join the Vice Mayor and Metro Council for a “celebration that includes a Celebration of City Services, transit treks, food trucks and live musical entertainment.”

The celebration, according to O’Connell, is meant to “celebrate a city coming together in multiple ways to highlight how Nashville works, how Nashville moves, and how Nashville grows.”

In regards to his decision to do a private swearing in before the inauguration, O’Connell said in a statement, “Mayor Cooper and his administration have been incredibly helpful, and this private swearing in is the most efficient way to execute a handoff between the two administrations. This will allow us to get a team in place ahead of the first Metro Council meeting on October 3rd, and I look forward to celebrating with Nashvillians the following Saturday”

Yep. Nashville has been infected with the same dumb-effery libt@rd virus that has doomed left coasters and NE morons for over a generation. BUT then, Nashville has been going down this same path for 30+ years. There’s no saving it. It’s like someone complaining about domestic abuse but still stays with the abuser because the abuser PROMISES it will be different his time.
Glad we left 10 years ago…we saw it coming 20 years ago.
