Vice President Kamala Harris has tapped Gov. Tim Walz, D-Minn., to serve as her running mate, multiple news outlets have reported.
While neither the campaign nor the governor have directly confirmed his selection, CNN reported that Walz had been chosen, citing “four people close to the process.”
Walz took office in 2019 and emerged as the preferred candidate of the Democrats’ progressive wing to serve as Harris vice president, USA Today reported.
Minnesota last backed a Republican for president in 1972, when it supported President Richard Nixon’s reelection. The state has nonetheless, however, become more competitive in recent cycles and Republicans have begun to campaign there with more fervor.
Former President Donald Trump and Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, held a joint campaign rally in late July in St. Cloud.
Harris and her running mate are expected to appear at a rally in Philadelphia later on Tuesday evening.

As always, background is important. Walz won a Republcan district bordering Iowa. His predecessor was a Republican, his successors are Republicans. Walz ran as a sensible moderate farmer, educator, member of the National Guard. A good ol’ boy with a modified crewcut who stood with the common man.
Of course, when he won state- wide as Governor, he had to reveal himself as a tranny loving, freakshow embracing progressive to carry St. Paul/Minnesota. With those votes and morons who still believed he was the straight-talking moderate from an otherwise Republican district carried him to Governor.
