Lara Trump, President-elect Trump’s daughter-in-law, announced she’s stepping down as Republican National Committee co-chair while her name remains in the mix for to fill the Senate seat currently held by Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla.
The incoming president selected Rubio as his nominee for secretary of state. He is subject to Senate confirmation.
Mrs. Trump’s name as been floated, among others, as a potential replacement.
“The job I came to do is now complete and I intend to formally step down from the RNC at our next meeting,” she said in a Sunday in an X post.
Trump has expressed in the opening.
“But yeah, I would 100 percent consider it,” Trump told the Associated Press in an interview. “If I’m being completely transparent, I don’t know exactly what that would look like. And I certainly want to get all of the information possible if that is something that’s real for me. But yeah, I would 100% consider it.”
