McCormick Campaign Declares Sen. Casey ‘Lost Touch with Pennsylvanians’ Following Report Democrat Falsely Claimed to Visit Every County

The political campaign of Republican U.S. Senate nominee Dave McCormick on Thursday seized on a report indicating Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) misled voters about visiting every Pennsylvania county annually.

Casey claimed during a May 3 WCHE Morning Show appearance that he visits every county in Pennsylvania each year, with the Democrat reportedly declaring, “But the best way for me to deal with that is to stay engaged, to go to every county every year, basically, which is what I’ve done for years now.”

However, a Thursday Broad and Liberty report analyzed the Democrat’s social media posts and public travel schedule and determined Casey’s claim appears to be false.

In reality, the outlet revealed Casey’s social media accounts reveal Casey has visited just 39 of 67 counties since January 2023.

A McCormick campaign spokesman said in a statement, “No wonder this creature of the swamp has lost touch with Pennsylvanians’ concerns over sky-high inflation and the war on energy. If career politician Casey is willing to be dishonest about this, what else is he not telling voters? Another day, another Casey lie.”

The campaign additionally claimed McCormick intends to visit every county in the commonwealth before the end of May, and revealed he has already visited 60.

McCormick and Casey remain close in the polls, with recent surveys showing the candidates separated by 4 and 5 percentage points.

The Republican’s first campaign advertisement after securing the Republican Party’s nomination labeled Casey “too dangerous for Pennsylvania,” and highlighted the Democrat’s voting record, which mirrors Biden’s requests “98 percent of the time.”

By contrast, Casey released an ad touting his relationships with Pennsylvania steelworkers and his achievements for organized labor.

McCormick recently announced a plan to relocate the Department of Energy from Washington, D.C., to Pittsburgh in an effort to “shake up” the federal government.

The Republican referenced his plan during a Wednesday rally in Lancaster, declaring senators must “[b]reak the back of the monopoly” in Washington, D.C., with “strong conservative policies” to “shake up Washington.”
