Rep. Burchett Responds to Criticism After Calling Kamala Harris ‘DEI Vice President’

Representative Tim Burchett (R-TN-02) has drawn the ire of the left-wing media this week, first for calling former U.S. Secret Service (USSS) Director Kimberly Cheatle a “DEI horror story,” and now for calling Vice President Kamala Harris, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, a “DEI Vice President.”

Wednesday, Burchett responded to the criticism he has faced from the left-wing media, which has labeled him as a “racist” among other typical tropes.

“Pushing DEI policies makes us weaker. I unequivocally condemn wrongful discrimination, and we always need to put the best player in,” Burchett told The Tennessee Star by email. “Joe Biden made this about race when he said, ‘the values of diversity, equality, and inclusion are literally, and that’s not kidding, the core strengths of America. That’s why I’m proud to have the most diverse administration in history, that taps into the full talents of our country and starts at the top with the Vice President.'”

DEI stands for “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion,” a far-reaching left-wing goal implemented in government and private organizations to promote “equity.”

“The incompetency level is at an all-time high in Washington. The media propped up this president, lied to the American people for three years, and then dumped him for our DEI vice president,” Burchett said on X, attaching video of a segment on NewsNation, where he said Harris was “a disaster on the border.”

“I don’t know if she could find the border with a compass and a map,” Burchett said.

In a Monday House Oversight Committee hearing about the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump, Burchett had harsh words for Cheatle, too.

“Miss Cheatle, you said ‘the buck stops with me,’ and I agree. I don’t think you should resign, I think you should have been fired,” Burchett he said during the hearing. “You are a DEI horror story. I’ve told my daughter – my wife and I – we talk to her all the time about how she’s going to succeed in life. She’ll succeed by achieving. Ma’am, you have not achieved a day in your life. You’ve let the American people down. If it was up to me, you’d be gone.”

Cheatle resigned shortly after that.
