Tennessee U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) was among a group of four senators selected by Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) to advise him and be part of his unofficial cabinet, according to a report by Fox News.

Thune, who was elected by Republican senators in November to succeed U.S. senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) as majority leader, tapped Blackburn and U.S. Senators Steve Daines (R-MT), Markwayne Mullin (R-OK), and John Cornyn (R-TX) to “advise him in his new role and sit in on key leadership meetings,” the outlet reported.

In a statement to Fox News, Blackburn said her role in advising Thune will be to “move forward the President’s nominees and ensure we are championing the President’s agenda in the Senate to Make America Great Again.”

Serving in her second term in the senate representing the Volunteer State, Blackburn was a key part of President-elect Donald Trump’s election  victory in November as she worked as co-chair of the Republican party platform committee to create and adopt a new platform for Republicans, marking the first time Republicans adopted a new agenda since 2016.

The 2024 Republican Party Platform is an agenda consisting of 20 promises Republicans intend to deliver on as Trump was elected back to the White House and Republicans secured majorities in both the U.S. House and U.S. Senate.

Blackburn, Daines, Mullin, and Cornyn will begin to join Thune in weekly meetings in his office along with elected leadership, including Senate President Pro-Tempore Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Senate Republican Whip John Barrasso (R-WY), Senate Republican Conference Chairman Tom Cotton (R-AR), Senate Republican Policy Committee Chairwoman Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), Republican Conference Vice Chair James Lankford (R-OK), and National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) Chairman Tim Scott (R-SC).
