Tennessee Faith and Freedom Coalition Meets with Governor Lee on Concerns Regarding August Special Session

The Tennessee Faith and Freedom Coalition (TNFFC) Board of Directors met with Governor Bill Lee on Monday and discussed multiple issues facing the Volunteer State, including the upcoming special legislative session next month.

“On Monday, we had a productive meeting with Governor Lee where we discussed several areas of agreement, namely mutual conceptual agreements to working together in common purpose and commitment to eradicating child and human trafficking in the state of Tennessee, working on ways to ensure that the people who protect our children at schools are the best trained in the nation, and the furthering of School Choice education initiatives for Tennessee’s children,” the TNFFC said in a Monday statement.

“The safety, health, and well-being of children in the state of Tennessee is our highest priority,” the TNFFC added.

In regards to next month’s special session, scheduled to convene on August 21, the TNFFC expressed appreciation for Lee listening to its concerns surrounding public safety during the special session, due to “previously reported threats and planning by Marxists.”

The group added in its Monday statement, “We also firmly communicated our opposition to anything resembling a Red Flag Law and our belief that the Tennessee General Assembly stands with us regarding that issue.”

The TNFFC asked Tennesseans to “pray for Governor Lee.”

“Governor Lee has a lot of decisions to make in the coming weeks as to the scope of the call and type of legislation that the General Assembly can consider during a Special Session. We call on all Tennesseans to pray for him and that God gives him the wisdom and discernment as he makes the difficult decisions that affect the future of our great state,” the TNFFC’s statement concluded.

The TNFFC has previously called the governor’s proposed special session “ill-advised,” further calling on Lee to “wait until normal session in January to make proposals for the legislature to consider – as is the normal process of government.”

Gov Lee must move the “special session” to meet in McNairy County. Otherwise he will henceforth be known as “Sideshow Billy”. He can meet all expectations by having the event somewhere remote from Nashville, like Purdy, Selmer, or Adamsville.
