Tennessee U.S. Representatives Rally Behind Jim Jordan for House Speaker

A group of GOP U.S. Representatives from Tennessee have issued statements affirming their support for Ohio U.S. Representative Jim Jordan’s (R-OH-04) bid for Speaker of the House.

“Jim Jordan is the proven conservative champion that America needs as Speaker of the House and has my full support,” congresswoman Diana Harshbarger (R-TN-01) said in a statement on Monday. “Under his leadership, Republicans will stand united in our fight to secure our borders, rein in reckless government spending, and hold the Biden administration accountable. The Democrats’ disastrous policies are destroying our country and Republicans must support our conference’s nominee so that we can get back to work for the American People.”

Congressman Chuck Fleischmann (R-TN-03) also released a statement on Monday in support of Jordan, saying, “[Jim Jordan] is my good friend and a strong conservative. I was proud to vote for Jim to be our Speaker-designate last week, and I look forward to voting for him to be our Speaker on the House Floor. I urge my colleagues to unite around Jim Jordan to be the next Speaker of the House of Representatives so we can get back to work delivering for the American people.”

In addition, congressman Scott DesJarlais (R-TN-04) sent out a tweet on the issue, saying, “I have heard from many of you over the past several days & share equally in your frustration. I’m calling on Republicans to unite & support Jim Jordan for speaker. We must get back to work & apply maximum pressure to Biden to solve our border crisis & protect our citizens.”

Last week, congressman Mark Green (R-TN-07) tweeted, “I am proud to support [Jim Jordan] for Speaker.”

Congressman Tim Burchett (R-TN-02) also tweeted, “It’s [Jim Jordan] vs. the swamp. Who do you support America?”

In addition to expressing his support for Jordan, Congressman Andy Ogles (R-TN-05) penned a letter to all Americans asking them to call the Member of Congress serving their districts and demand they support Jordan for House Speaker.

“Currently, there is a candidate for Speaker that will fight vigorously – every day – in service of this extraordinary country. That candidate is Congressman Jim Jordan,” Ogles wrote.

In a letter to his GOP colleagues on Monday, Jordan said he intends to “bring all Republicans together” if elected Speaker.
