Tennessee U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) presented the 2024 Republican Party Platform at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Monday.
The Republican Party Platform Committee overwhelmingly approved former President Donald Trump’s 2024 Republican Party Platform last week.
The new party platform is an agenda consisting of 20 promises Republicans intend to deliver on if Trump is elected back to the White House and Republicans occupy majorities in both the U.S. House and Senate.
The Republican Party’s adoption of the 2024 platform comes eight years since it adopted its last platform in 2016. The party did not adopt a new platform in 2020.
Blackburn, who served as the chair of the Republican Party Platform Committee where she orchestrated the platform committee meetings, spoke at the Republican National Convention on Monday where she called the platform a “succinct, clear agenda and a promise to the American people.”
“It’s a different kind of platform. It’s not a laundry list of special interest wishes, but a succinct, clear agenda and a promise to the American people,” Blackburn said.
Blackburn went on to applaud Trump’s work on the platform, noting how the former president approved and edited the agenda.
“I talked with our next President Donald J. Trump, and he personally reviewed, edited and approved our platform because he knows it is important. Every American can read our platform and know what we believe and how we will make America safer, stronger, wealthier and greater than ever before,” Blackburn said.
Blackburn added that the new platform is “built on the values of our founders and great Republicans from Lincoln and Reagan to Trump who committed to freedom, restrained government, and peace through Strength.”
“The platform contains twenty promises including securing our border, getting inflation under control, restoring our energy dominance, defending our Constitution, protecting our Second Amendment rights, protecting our children, securing our country, restoring our military strength, keeping boys out of girls’ sports, and protecting life – born and unborn,” Blackburn said.
Blackburn closed out her remarks by addressing the nation’s “serious decline” under the Biden administration and painting the Republican Party’s new platform as a way to revive the “timeless values that have defined Republicans for generations.”
“Our nation is in serious decline; taken there by the Biden-Harris policies that have put government first and the people last. The Democrats have forgotten who they serve. We are here this week to remind them and America, that we Republicans serve the people, and we will not forget them. That’s why our platform is dedicated to the forgotten men and women of America and will unite all Americans. It is of, by, and for the People,” Blackburn said.
Blackburn concluded, “Our platform reflects the agenda of Donald Trump and the timeless values that have defined Republicans for generations. Let’s unite in support of our platform and our next President, Donald Trump. President Trump will keep his promises as he did in his first term as President and restore American Greatness. And that is why we must return Donald Trump to the White House!”
