Vivek Ramaswamy to Launch Bid for Ohio Governor on February 24: Report

Businessman and former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy is reportedly set to officially launch his bid for Ohio governor, according to reports.

On Friday, Ramaswamy filed the necessary paperwork with the Ohio secretary of state’s office to launch a bid for governor, according to The Hill.

Ramaswamy submitted a Designation of Treasurer form for his political action committee “Vivek Ramaswamy For Ohio.”

Further, according to a report by The Associated Press citing “a person close to the campaign,” Ramaswamy will launch his gubernatorial bid with a rally at CTL Aerospace Inc. in his hometown of Cincinnati before traveling to New Albany, Ohio, which is outside Columbus, to deliver remarks at Axium Packaging on Monday, February 24.

On Tuesday, February 25, Ramaswamy is also scheduled to appear at events at Glass City Center in Toledo and The Local Bar in Strongsville, the report added.

Ahead of Ramaswamy’s official announcement, so far three candidates – two Republicans and one Democrat – have officially launched bids to be Ohio’s next governor: Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost, entrepreneur Heather Hill, and former Ohio Department of Health (ODH) Director Amy Acton.

Ohio Treasurer Robert Sprague also launched a short-lived bid for governor as he quickly dropped out of the race and endorsed Ramaswamy on February 5.

Last month, Tom Zawistowski, president of the Ohio-based We the People Convention, said Ramaswamy is likely to be the favorite Republican candidate among Ohioans in the 2026 gubernatorial race due to his ability to likely earn an endorsement from President Donald Trump and self-fund his campaign.

“It’s really simple here in Ohio: if Trump endorses you, you’re going to win…Vivek has the most important thing here in Ohio, and that is he’s got the self worth to fund his campaign. He’s not going to be beholden to the typical people that do the pay to play with Republicans in Ohio, and that’s what’s going to really generate a lot of enthusiasm among the grassroots. Self funding and a Trump endorsement? I don’t know how you beat that,” Zawistowski said.
