Rep. Mark Green Re-Introduces Bill to Kick Communist China Out of Hollywood

U.S. Representative Mark Green (R-TN-07) on Wednesday re-introduced the Stopping Communist Regimes from Engaging in Edits Now or SCREEN Act to discourage Hollywood from bowing to censorship from Beijing.

Green originally introduced the SCREEN Act just over a year ago on February 28, 2022, during the second session of the 117th Congress as H.R. 6855. Around the same time, the combat veteran of Afghanistan and Iraq issued a scathing op-ed calling on the Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin to put an end to Hollywood using the U.S. military for censorship by the Chinese.

Tennessee U.S. Rep. Tim Burchett to Serve on Three House Committees in the 118th Congress

Tennessee Representative Tim Burchett (R-TN-02) announced that he was selected to serve on three House committees in the 118th Congress.

Burchett will be returning to serve on both the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee and House Foreign Affairs Committee. Burchett was also chosen to serve as a new member on the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability.

Georgia Will Have Republicans in Top Three U.S. House Committees

Georgia will have four Republicans in three of the most powerful House of Representatives committees: Representative Andrew Clyde (R-GA-09) has been picked for the Appropriations Committee, and Representative Rick Allen (R-GA-12) has been selected for the House Energy and Commerce Committee. Representative Buddy Carter (R-GA-01) already serves on that committee, and Representative Drew Ferguson (R-GA-03) already serves on the Ways and Means Committee.

Committees decide the fate of legislation in Congress and hold hearings. The appointments of Clyde and Allen to the committees give them more personal power and opportunities to advance their careers, but the positions also give them the ability to more directly influence major legislation on behalf of their districts.
