Ohio Attorney General Yost Files Suit to Stop Federal Funding of Abortions

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost on Monday announced a lawsuit against the Biden administration, aimed to prevent the funding of abortion by federal tax funds.

The lawsuit, which is joined by 11 other states, targets the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for changing a rule that prevented federally funded family planning clinics from abortion referrals.

Ohio House of Representative Expels Member for Corruption

The Ohio House of Representatives voted to expel one of their members, former Speaker Larry Householder (R-Glenford), following Householder’s indictment in an alleged $60 million federal bribery scheme.

Republican members advocated for the vote to be held on the House floor, rather than waiting for the expulsion legislation to pass through various committees. The historic, bipartisan 75-21 vote approved a resolution that contended Householder was not qualified for office.

Ohio Attorney General Announces Agreement to Stop Money Flowing from House Bill 6 to FirstEnergy

FirstEnergy has agreed to give up what could have been a $120 million windfall in 2021, and Ohio put on hold its ongoing lawsuit relating the state’s nuclear bailout law.

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost announced Monday what he called a “big win” for state consumers when the energy company said it would forego a provision in the law that guaranteed FirstEnergy the ability to recapture yearly profits based on its profit numbers from 2018.
