Conservative Roxana Holzapfel Spars with Democrat Lauren Kuby During Debate for Legislative District 8 State Senate Race

Arizona debate

One of the most contentious races in the Arizona Legislature is for the open state senate seat in Legislative District 8. The Arizona Clean Elections Commission sponsored a debate between the two candidates earlier this month. Rozana Holzapfel, a Hispanic small business owner and former police officer new to politics, is running against Democrat Lauren Kuby. Kuby, who Holzapfel described as a “perennial candidate,” is running on a far left progressive platform in the Tempe-based district touting union endorsements and championing the abortion up until birth Proposition 139.

Kuby described herself in her opening statement as a “proven advocate for environmental consumer and worker protections. I spearheaded Tempe’s Climate Action Plan, as well as innovations in … solar energy adoption. … My values and vision … embrace social, environmental, racial and economic justice … I’m running to be a champion for climate solutions, for abortion access…”

Kari Lake Team Still Confident in Potential Senate Run After Sheriff Mark Lamb Joins Race

Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb (R) officially announced Tuesday that he is entering the campaign trail for U.S. Senate, aiming to take the seat of Arizona’s Independent Senator, Kyrsten Sinema. To get that seat, Lamb must overcome political rivals on both sides of the aisle, including a potential bid from Republican Kari Lake.

“The idea of Kari Lake in the US Senate is the worst nightmare of the crooked political machine — the same machine she has vowed to destroy. If the People of Arizona call on Kari to run for Senate, despite the wishes of the ruling class, she will. And if Kari runs, she will win,” said Alex Nicoll, spokesperson for Lake, in an email to The Arizona Sun Times.

Kari Lake Celebrates Momentum as New Poll Shows Her in Lead over Opponent Hobbs

The Trafalgar Group recently unveiled new survey results involving the Arizona governor seat race, showing Trump-endorsed Kari Lake with a slight lead over her gubernatorial rival, Democrat Katie Hobbs.

Instead, despite a tough GOP primary, Kari Lake has seized the lead before Labor Day,” said the Lake campaign in a press release. “Katie Hobbs is simply too much of a Biden-supporting liberal extremist for Arizona. Our campaign will only continue to build on this momentum as Republicans keep uniting around Kari Lake, and Arizonans learn more about her plans to put Arizona First, fix our economy and secure the border.”

Exclusive: Jim Lamon Says He Is the Veteran to Take Down Mark Kelly

PHOENIX, Arizona – Arizona Republican Senate candidate Jim Lamon said he is the veteran to take down Mark Kelly in the Senate race by demonstrating real American work and action.

“In Arizona, there’s a very large veterans’ population, retired, active-duty, people associated with the military here. Kelly’s a veteran. You got to start with that. You darn well better be a veteran to go against him. Number two, you got a situation where this guy has gone so far left, he ran as a moderate, but you need someone to hold him accountable. Someone who has not just talked about what they’re going to do. Somebody who’s got accomplishments. Somebody who’s built businesses. So, you can show that contrast to what he is and what America is. This guy’s gone hard left, hard Marxist, voting 100% with [Chuck] Schumer and those guys. This is, in my case, being able to contrast that. Not with talk. But with actual stuff to show what real work looks like,” Lamon said in an interview with the Arizona Sun Times.
