Pollster John McLaughlin: ‘If the Election Was Held Today, Trump Would Win in a Landslide’

Long-time pollster John McLaughlin said if the 2024 presidential general election was held today, former President Donald Trump would win over incumbent President Joe Biden “in a landslide.”

McLaughlin, citing Trump’s lead in national polling, said the former president would win both an electoral and popular vote landslide if the election were held now, however, noted how the Left is actively “trying to put him in jail.”

“Right now, we’re very optimistic because you see all the national polls – Trump’s ahead in the RealClearPolitics averages, ahead in the battleground states. It’s the independence and disaffected Democrats who disapprove of Biden right now,” McLaughlin said during Wednesday’s edition of The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy. “The majority of Americans disapprove of Biden as the most failed, corrupt president in the history of the United States. They are voting for Donald Trump in the general election, and if the election was held today, we got 250 days to go, but if the election was held today, Trump would win in a landslide, an electoral landslide. He’d probably win in a decisive national popular vote win, but we got 250 days and they’re trying to put him in jail.”

McLaughlin went on to compare Trump’s legal battle to that of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who died in prison on February 16, saying Biden is “modeling himself after Vladimir Putin” as he and his administration are “trying to put his leading political opponent in jail.”

“Alexei Navalny, you know, I mean, Joe Biden is basically modeling himself after Vladimir Putin, where he’s trying to put his leading political opponent in jail and try to turn Trump into the Navalny or, I would say. the Nelson Mandela of America. I mean, they are serious with these trials that are coming up,” McLaughlin said.

McLaughlin said he is confident that Trump will “win big” and secure enough delegates to secure the party’s nomination after Super Tuesday, which is March 5.

“It’s going to be overwhelming and President Trump’s going to win big and hopefully we secure enough delegates…Right now, we’re not paying any attention to Nikki Haley,” McLaughlin added.
