Tennessee U.S. Rep. Mark Green Leads Letter to Coast Guard Demanding Answers on Sanctioned China-Owned Shipping Company

U.S. Representative Mark Green (R-TN-07) led four members of the House of Representatives seeking answers from the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) regarding its practices for dealing with COSCO Shipping, state-owned shipping company from China that was sanctioned by the federal government earlier this month.

Green, the leading the House Committee on Homeland Security, led Representatives John Moolenaar (R-MI-02), Carlos Gimenez (R-FL-26), and Dusty Johnson (R-SD) in a letter seeking answers from Admiral Kevin Lunday about how the Coast Guard handles the shipping company, with the congressmen warning its vessels, “frequently have Chinese Communist Party (CCP) political commissars embedded amongst their crews.”

GOP Lawmakers Urge Biden Admin to Investigate Dem Rep. with Deep China Ties

Republican lawmakers called on the Biden administration to launch an investigation into a Chinese civic association linked to a New York Democratic congresswoman on Wednesday, according to a letter exclusively obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Reps. Jim Banks of Indiana, Carlos Gimenez of Florida, Robert Wittman of Virginia and Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik of New York urged Secretary of State Antony Blinken to designate the New York-based Henan Association Of Eastern America (HAEA) as a “foreign mission,” citing “its recently reported leading role in Chinese Communist Party (CCP)-led influence operations against American officials,” according to the letter. The lawmakers also asked Attorney General Merrick Garland to investigate HAEA’s current and former leaders, including New York Democratic Rep. Grace Meng, who was listed as the group’s “deputy chairwoman” before she launched her congressional campaign in 2012.

Florida AG Moody Calls on Treasury to Stop Supporting ‘Cuba’s Communist Interests’

Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody on Thursday called on U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen to stop the agency’s “continued support of Cuba’s communist interests.”

She did so after Cuban-American lawmakers raised the alarm about Chinese spies operating in Cuba, reportedly targeting Cuban-Americans as well as about the Biden administration recently allowing Cuban regime officials to tour TSA facilities at the Miami International Airport.
