Ohio Republican Party Says If U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown Cared About Ohio He Would Not Help Fund Biden’s Radical Agenda

The Ohio Republican Party said in a press release Tuesday that if U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) cared about the working people of Ohio, he would cooperate with Republicans on the other side of the political aisle to restrict spending and reduce costs rather than take money out of Ohioans’ pockets to fund President Joe Biden‘s radical agenda.

According to the Ohio Republican Party’s communication director Dan Lusheck, tax day is the Democrats’ “favorite day of the year.”

“It’s a day when far-left liberals like Sherrod Brown celebrate all the money they have taken out of hardworking Ohioans’ pockets to fund Joe Biden’s failed policies and radical agenda,” Lusheck said.

The Democrats’ so-called “Inflation Reduction Act,” successor to the House-passed Build Back Better Act of late 2021, was touted by Biden too, among other things, to help reduce the country’s crippling inflation.

Democrats claimed that the act would ensure the wealthiest Americans and corporations pay their “fair share” by closing tax loopholes and boosting IRS funding, all without raising taxes on anyone making less than $400,000 annually.

Nonpartisan analysis, however, revealed that the legislation would increase taxes on low- and middle-income Americans during a period of declining gross domestic product and high inflation; it would also increase taxes on manufacturers, exacerbate supply-chain disruptions, cost American jobs and investment, and do very little to lower inflation.

Now, Biden’s most recent budget proposal, which is considered his biggest tax increase to date, will only make things worse for Ohio taxpayers by hiking income tax rates to the highest levels in the industrialized world.

Yes, Every Kid

Biden would increase revenues by $4 trillion on a gross basis during the following ten years when combined with the tax increases in the Build Back Better Act, which the budget assumes is passed into law. Economic growth would be harmed by the Biden tax increases in the budget and the Build Better Back Act, which would undermine investment incentives and productive capacity at the worst possible time.

According to Lusheck, Biden and Brown’s spending has caused inflation to outpace real earnings for 24 consecutive months.

“Let’s not forget the hidden tax that is driving up costs each and every day—Inflation. In the last two years, Joe Biden and Sherrod Brown’s rampant spending has led to inflation outpacing real wages for 24 straight months,” Lusheck said.

Lusheck also noted, that under Brown’s failed leadership as chairman of the U.S. Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee, America experienced the second and third-largest bank failures in our nation’s history.

According to Lusheck, by Brown continuing to vote with the most far-left members of his party, he is turning his back on Ohio.

“If Sherrod Brown cared about working Ohioans, he would work with Republicans across the aisle to get spending under control and drive down costs. Instead, he will continue to vote with the most far-left members of his party and turn his back on Ohioans who need relief the most,” Lusheck said.

The Ohio Star reached out for comment from Brown but did not receive a reply before press time.

Several Republicans have announced their candidacy to run for Senate in 2024 and challenge Brown.
Ohio Republican businessman Bernie Moreno, and Republican State Senator Matt Dolan (R-Chagrin Falls) who finished third in last year’s primary election have both announced their candidacy. Republican Secretary of State Frank LaRose told The Ohio Star that he is also actively considering running.

Given that Ohio has shifted to the right in both statewide and federal races since 2016, Brown is currently one of the more vulnerable Senate Democrats in the 2024 cycle.
