Los Angeles Democratic Mayor Karen Bass on Tuesday lifted a curfew on the city’s downtown that went into effect last week over riots in the city against federal immigration raids, citing successful crime prevention and suppression efforts.
Bass imposed the curfew exactly one week ago, which began at 8 p.m. local time, and expired at 6 a.m. local time. The curfew impacted a one-square mile radius and excluded residents in the area, homeless people, credentialed media and public safety and emergency personnel.
