Davidson County GOP Endorses Alice Rolli in Nashville Mayoral Race

The Davidson County Republican Party (DCRP) has endorsed Alice Rolli in the Nashville mayoral race. Rolli is one of two Republicans vying to be the next mayor of Music City out of a pool of 12 candidates.

“We were proud that several Republicans threw their hats in the ring to run for various offices on this year’s Metro ballot and are confident that we will see Republicans earn seats on the Metro Council,” DCRP Chairman Lonnie Spivak said in a statement. “But we also believe that this is the year that Nashville could elect – not just a Republican Mayor – but a truly different kind of Mayor. We need someone who has a unique collection of knowledge and experience to right the ship of our over-spending, over-indebted local government.”

“Our Board collectively feels that Alice is the candidate who can be that kind of Mayor and has a solid chance of victory. We chose to communicate to our members that focusing support behind Alice is the best way to effect change,” Spivak added.

The DCRP’s Executive Committee chose to endorse Rolli as she has “shown great strength in fundraising and voter engagement, has seen a significant rise in local opinion polls, earned the individual endorsements of several local Republican leaders, and won an overwhelming show of support among loyal conservatives at the party’s recent Summer Picnic.”

Last month, as previously reported by The Tennessee Star, the DCRP hosted a Summer Picnic event and conducted a straw poll for the mayoral race, where attendees “overwhelmingly” supported Rolli.

The DCRP also cited its decision to endorse Rolli based on her “experience in business management and economic development, her commitment to improve education in Nashville, and her constant attention to safety needs and a well-staffed police department.”

“While Mrs. Rolli is a lifelong Republican, she has run on a platform of serving all of Nashville’s citizens and governing fairly and efficiently,” the DCRP added.

The 2023 Metro Nashville General Election, which includes the Tennessee House District 51 Special Primary and Tennessee House District 52 Special General, will take place this Thursday, August 3. If necessary, a runoff election is scheduled for Thursday, September 14.
