Tennessee Faith and Freedom Coalition Presents Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti with Defender of Freedom Award

The Tennessee Faith and Freedom Coalition (TNFFC) recently awarded Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti one of its Defender of Freedom awards.

The award, according to TNFFC, is used to “recognize contributions made by recipients who go above and beyond the call of duty making contributions to protect the rights, freedoms and values of the citizens of the great state of Tennessee.”

TNFFC recognized Skrmetti’s “constant work to defend and uphold the Tennessee and U.S. constitutions, as well as the rule of law,” in awarding him with the Defender of Freedom award.

“We are immensely grateful for and proud of the work that General Skrmetti does for the citizens of Tennessee on a daily basis,” the board of directors of the Tennessee Faith & Freedom Coalition said in a unanimous statement.

TNFFC Chairman Aaron Spradlin added, “We are proud of the work General Skrmetti and his office does in support of our liberties and Constitution, as well as fortifying and defending our great state against federal overreach. The honor is truly ours to recognize him for his great work. We look forward to seeing him continue that great work for years to come.”

Skrmetti was sworn in as Tennessee’s attorney general on September 1, 2022. He was appointed by the Tennessee Supreme Court to serve an eight-year term. He previously served as chief counsel to Governor Bill Lee and as chief deputy attorney general to Tennessee Attorney General Herbert H. Slatery III.

“General Skrmetti is a man of strong faith, a dedicated and principled leader, and Tennessee is just so very fortunate and blessed to have him in that office,” TNFFC board member Scott Nelson stated.

Skrmetti joins five additional elected officials around the state that were recently presented with the same award at the coalition’s first annual TNFFC Legislative Awards Ceremony, as previously reported by The Tennessee Star. TNFFC also distributed two Conservative Champion awards at its first annual awards ceremony.

AG Skrmetti is a bold contrast to the do-nothing Slatery that he followed. Why on God’s green earth did Tennessee put up with Slatery? Who put him into office?
