Dr. Bonner Cohen Talks About the Biden Administration’s Intentional Destruction of America’s Energy Independence

Vladamir Putin

Live from Music Row Monday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. – host Leahy welcomed Senior Fellow for the National Center for Public Policy, Dr. Bonner Cohen to the newsmakers line to discuss the geopolitical suicide of America by the Biden administration, Wall Street, and Washington bureaucrats.

Leahy: We welcome to our microphones, Dr. Bonner Cohen, who is a senior fellow with the National Center for Public Policy Research. Welcome, Doctor.

Cohen: Well, thank you very much for having me.

Leahy: So you’ve got this fascinating story about how the Biden energy policies are benefiting Vladimir Putin and Russia. Tell us a little bit about that.

Cohen: Yes. And by the way, they not only benefiting Vladimir Putin and Russia, but they’re also benefiting the People’s Republic of China. All this is happening in the course of this Biden administration’s forced transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy, all being done in the name of combating climate change.

What we are doing is we are giving up our long sought out and finally achieved energy independence and independence from the politically chaotic Middle East. And we are trading that independence for increased dependence on China for the source of raw materials that go into wind turbines and solar panels.

Yes, Every Kid

Benefiting, among other parties, Russia, which will benefit immensely from lack of competition from U.S. liquefied natural gas, enabling the Kremlin to sell more of its own natural gas, albeit at a higher price to customers in Europe.

This is geopolitical suicide on the part of the United States, and it will affect the lives of everybody listening to this broadcast this morning because the cost of energy, what we pay for electricity, what we pay for at the pump will go through the roof, as is already happening in California and Europe.

Leahy: That’s not exactly what you would call good news. Dr. Bonner Cohen with the National Center for Public Policy Research. My feeling on this is that this is intentional by the Biden administration. This is not incompetence.

It seems to me that they are trying to destroy the Constitutional Republic of America and limit our international comparative advantage. I think they’re doing it intentionally. What are your thoughts on the whole thing?

Cohen: I think you’ve hit the nail right on the head. First of all, they need to destroy as quickly as possible the fossil fuel industry in the United States making us dependent on renewable energy.

But that’s part of something that’s much larger. This will concentrate power in the hands of very few bureaucrats in Washington, D.C., and those people who stand to gain financially from this transition. Who are they?

They’re the people on Wall Street who are heavily invested in electric vehicles, solar, and wind power. The other people who will benefit are the tech oligarchs in Silicon Valley who are very much in bed with the Chinese and doing tremendous business in China and are huge donors to the Democratic Party, and the others are simply those who are purveyors of every imaginable, so-called climate-friendly source of energy.

And the United States geopolitically will lose on this. Average citizens will lose on this. And you know what? The ruling class in this country and the people that are part of the Biden administration don’t care, because that’s exactly what they want. As you said, this is not incompetence. This is being done by design.

Leahy: Dr. Bonner Cohen with the National Center for Public Policy Research. Thank you so much for that outstanding report. And please come back again with us.

Cohen: I’d love to. Thanks so much.
