Half of Rep. Omar’s Campaign Donations Funneled to Husband’s Company

Federal Election Commission (FEC) records show that more than half of all donations made to Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN-05) in her 2020 re-election bid were paid to her husband’s business in the form of consulting fees. 

Omar’s 2020 FEC report shows a total of 146 payments made to the E Street Group, her husband Tim Mynett’s firm. Those payments total $2.9 million. As reported by The Washington Free Beacon, that $2.9 million Mynett made from his wife’s re-election campaign accounted for about 80 percent of his firm’s revenue during the last election cycle.

Consulting Firm Co-Owned by Rep. Ilhan Omar’s Husband Received $600,000 in COVID Relief

A consulting firm co-owned by Rep. Ilhan Omar’s husband received more than $600,000 in COVID-19 relief funds while taking millions from Omar’s campaign.

Records show that E Street Group received $134,800 from the Paycheck Protection Program and $500,000 in Economic Injury Disaster Loans.

Omar’s campaign has paid the firm $2.78 million since July 2019, according to Federal Election Commission records. Between July 23 and Sept. 30, E Street Group received $1.1 million from Omar’s campaign for expenses related to advertising, digital consulting, video production and editing, travel and more.

Rep Ilhan Omar Cuts Ties with Husband’s Consulting Firm After Raking in Millions in Campaign Payments

Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN) announced Sunday that she had severed financial ties with her husband’s consulting firm after her campaign had divvied out nearly $3 million to the company.

Omar’s campaign was the largest known client of Tim Mynett’s firm, E Street Group, having paid the firm $2.78 million since July 2019, Federal Election Commission (FEC) records show. Mynett co-owns the firm with Will Hailer, a former staffer for Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison. E Street Group’s second-largest client that reports to the FEC was the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, which has reported payments of $128,000 to the firm.

Ilhan Omar Pays Husband’s Firm Another $600,000 in Just Three Weeks, Bringing Total Over $1.7 Million

Democratic Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar’s re-election campaign paid her husband’s consulting firm more than $600,000 in the first three weeks of July, Federal Election Commission (FEC) records show.

Omar’s campaign has now paid E Street Group, the consulting firm run by Omar’s husband, Tim Mynett, more than $1.7 million since August 2018, according to FEC records.

Republican Candidate Lacy Johnson Outraised Ilhan Omar in 2020’s Second Quarter

Lacy Johnson raised four times more in campaign contributions than Ilhan Omar (D-MN-05), the Democrat incumbent, during this year’s second quarter. In a recent tweet, Johnson, the leading Republican candidate, detailed that his campaign took in $2 million, while Omar’s campaign posted only $471,000 in donations.

According to the Federal Election Commission, Omar has raised 22 percent more for her campaign in total. She has taken in $3.8 million to date, while Johnson raised $3.17 million. Currently, she has $1.1 million in cash on hand, while Johnson has half that amount.
