Former White House strategist Steve Bannon reported to a federal prison on Monday in Connecticut to start his four-month sentence on contempt of Congress charges, calling himself a “political prisoner” of Democrats.
Bannon ignored subpoenas from the House Jan. 6 Select Committee.

According to a report by CNN, Steve Bannon, former Chief of Staff to President Donald Trump, will be ordered by a judge to report to a Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Connecticut, stemming from a 2022 conviction on contempt of Congress charges for ignoring a subpoena from the Jan. 6 committee.
Bannon has been ordered to report to prison on July 1 following a rejected appeal.Â

President Joe Biden on Thursday claimed the recording of his interview with Special Counsel Robert Hur about his retention of classified documents should not be released due to executive privilege just hours before House Republicans were set to move toward holding Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress for not releasing the recordings.
The Justice Department’s Legal Counsel Office said the recording should be considered protected by executive privilege, and Garland should not be punished for not releasing it, Associate Attorney General Carlos Uriatre said.
