Roger Stone Warns Tennessee Churchgoers to Prep for the Fight for Western Civilization

MOUNT JULIET, Tennessee — Under a large pitched tent and in sweltering heat, Roger Stone, a 40-year confidante of U.S. President Donald Trump, shared his personal testimony Sunday and said he’s “living proof prayer works” despite seemingly insurmountable odds. But Stone’s testimony also came with a warning. “We are in the most dangerous time ever in America,” Stone told members of Global Vision Bible Church in Mt. Juliet. “This is an epic struggle between dark and light, between good and evil, between the godly and the godless, and this is also a fight for the struggle of Western Civilization as we know it.” As reported, Trump last month commuted Stone’s prison sentence. Officials sentenced Stone to three years and four months on counts of lying to Congress, witness tampering and obstructing the House investigation into whether Trump’s campaign colluded with Russia in the 2016 election. But Stone adamantly maintained his innocence and told churchgoers Sunday that law enforcement had no evidence to prove his alleged crimes. Stone spoke of a private meeting he had with the Rev. Franklin Graham. “I told him [Graham] that I was up against an implacable enemy with deep pockets and no morals and no rules,”…

New York Gov. Cuomo Tells Hero Healthcare Workers Who Traveled There to Save Coronavirus Patients Now Must Pay State Income Taxes

Gov. Andrew Cuomo

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who once pled for an influx of healthcare workers to treat COVID-19, now says they have to pay up for the privilege of having worked there to treat the coronavirus.

Cuomo said out-of-state medical professionals who volunteered to help his state owe income taxes, Fox News said. That applies even if they stayed on the payroll in their home states. However, only workers who stayed in New York for more than 14 days are on the hook.

Franklin Graham Not Happy with Steve Cohen of Memphis Over Democrats’ Decision to Shun God

Evangelist Franklin Graham is unhappy with the Democrats in Congress and with Tennessee Democratic Congressman Steve Cohen for shunning God. As The Tennessee Star reported, since the Democrats took control of the U.S. House of Representatives, people no longer must say “so help me God” under oath. This reportedly delights Cohen, who represents Memphis. On his Twitter page, Graham said,“Why has the Democratic Party turned its back on God? @RepCohen of TN said, ‘I think God belongs in religious institutions: in temple, in church, in cathedral, in mosque—but not in Congress.’” Why has the Democratic Party turned its back on God? @RepCohen of TN said, “I think God belongs in religious institutions: in temple, in church, in cathedral, in mosque—but not in Congress.” 1/3 https://t.co/EbrkovjXu8 — Franklin Graham (@Franklin_Graham) May 14, 2019 “We need more of God, not less! What @RepCohen is suggesting is what Communism did in Eastern Europe & is still doing in places around the world like Cuba. Communism only allows worship inside approved churches. God is our Creator & the maker of the universe. He is present everywhere; He is not limited to churches or temples. The root of the issue is that many politicians…

Franklin Graham Group Helps with Disaster Relief in Florida

Volunteers for a Franklin Graham affiliated group came to Florida’s panhandle to help with disaster relief in the aftermath of Hurricane Michael, but it’s about so much more than that, they said. Volunteers with the group Samaritan’s Purse told The Tennessee Star the devastation in that region is still widespread, and a lot of the locals have lost almost everything. Some volunteers came to help homeowners with the next stage of rebuilding. Some came to help remove trees off people’s homes. And then, as volunteer Kristy Kulberg told The Star this week, they also came to offer emotional and spiritual support. “One of our homeowners had bad roof and tree damage. Their son has battled with some addictions and his walk with Christ. The storm pushed him a lot farther away,” Kulberg said. Volunteers, Kulberg went on to say, helped him and his elderly father, and they helped make the home more livable and tolerable. They also brought the wayward man closer to God. That man soon rededicated his life to Christ, Kulberg said. “That was a big victory for us that we were able to help that family in so many different ways. When we got there, it was…

Franklin Graham: ‘Shocked By Profoundly Incorrect’ Atheist Democrat Running Against GOP’s Shane Reeves

Franklin Graham and Shane Reeves

Evangelical leader Franklin Graham expressed shock on Monday at the “profoundly incorrect” comments made by atheist Democratic candidate Gayle Jordan, who faces the GOP’s Shane Reeves in the State Senate 14th District special election happening today. “USA TODAY has a story about an atheist running for public office in Tennessee—the election is tomorrow,” the Christian leader wrote on Facebook Monday afternoon, adding: I was shocked by her profoundly incorrect comment about it – she said, “It’s incidental to who I am.” I’m afraid the opposite couldn’t be more true. There’s nothing more significant to who we are. There’s nothing more important than faith in God and trusting in His Son Jesus Christ. Atheism and secularism may be trendy and “progressive,” but denying God is devastating for a life or for a nation. God’s Word tells us that one day “at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:10-11).   Republican Shane Reeves and Democrat Gayle Jordan are battling it out at the polls today as voters in the 14th State Senate District decide who will represent them in the…

Franklin Graham to Rosie O’Donnell: ‘You Don’t Have the Keys to Hell’

Evangelist Franklin Graham told Rosie O’Donnell to “clean up your mouth” and “put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ,” after the comedian told Speaker of the House Paul Ryan he’s going “straight to hell.” “Rosie, you don’t have the keys to hell, but I know the One who does,” Mr. Graham said in a Facebook post on Tuesday. “And I can tell you who will be there. Hell is going to be filled with people who reject God’s offer of salvation and turned their backs on His laws and standards, refusing to repent.”

NASHVILLE, Tennessee — Franklin Graham spoke Thursday evening at a fundraiser for The Bridge Ministry held at Lipscomb University. More than 700 people attended the event at Allen Arena, which included dinner and entertainment by Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum. The Bridge is a Nashville area Christian nonprofit that serves the poor and homeless and partners with agencies to help the needy with everyday necessities. The group works to educate people and help them get back to work, and to encourage others to help those who are hungry and homeless. “It’s an honor to be here to support a ministry like this,” Graham told the crowd. In May, Franklin Graham spoke in Clarksville as part of his Decision America Tennessee Tour. At Thursday’s event, he encouraged people to give generously to The Bridge, which was founded in 2004. “At The Bridge, people are fed, people are clothed and people are given an opportunity for a better life, for education and training, and to hear the gospel of the…

Christian Agencies Use Know-How to Help Hurricane Victims

Tennessee Star

The Daily Caller reports that Christian non-profits do more than any government agency to support victims of disasters like hurricanes Harvey and Irma. The story says that faith-based organizations provide the bulk of relief, even when compared to the Federal Emergency Management Agency, quoting a national media story. The National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (NVOAD) works with FEMA to distribute resources in disaster areas and help victims find the help they need. Seventy-five percent of NVOAD’s membership is comprised of faith-based organizations, The Daily Caller reports. The disaster coordination agency’s membership, includes notables like the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team and Convoy of Hope, plus many denominational response organizations including those for the Adventists, Disciples of Christ and Episcopalians. There are non-Christian and secular groups as well. Such organizations have the experience and logistical infrastructure to effectively respond to disasters and work with devastated communities in the long-term. Jake Raabe, in the Baptist Standard, speaks out against the “second disaster” created when well-intentioned people send useless items like teddy bears that overwhelm meaningful relief operations. Supply planes could not land in Honduras after Hurricane Mitch ravaged that nation in 1998 because Americans had donated so much used clothing that boxes of…

Montreat College Defends Asking Faculty To Commit To Being Pro-Life And Pro-Traditional Marriage

A small Christian college in North Carolina long supported by the family of evangelist Billy Graham is defending a new requirement that faculty and staff sign a pledge saying they are pro-life and for traditional marriage. The Montreat College statement says that faculty and staff will “uphold the God-given worth of every human being, from conception to death, as unique image-bearers of God” and “affirm chastity among the unmarried and the sanctity of marriage between one man and one woman.” The statement also addresses aspects of personal character, such as being a person of integrity and avoiding immodesty, and expects signers to regard the Bible as “the infallible Word of God, completely inspired and authoritative, and is to govern Christians in every aspect of life and conduct.” Located in the town of Montreat near Asheville, the college has only 876 students. It was run for many years by an association affiliated with the mainline Presbyterian Church (USA) but became nondenominational more than a decade ago. The school is a member of the conservative Council for Christian Colleges and Universities. Billy Graham and his late wife Ruth were married in the college’s chapel, which now bears their name, according to the Charlotte Observer.…

Gubernatorial Candidate Bill Lee Meets With Franklin Graham At Clarksville Event

Bill Lee, a Republican businessman running for governor of Tennessee, met briefly with Franklin Graham in Clarksville on Thursday to thank him for being an inspiration in his life. Lee and his wife, Maria, met with Graham on a tour bus for about 10 minutes to talk and pray. The Christian evangelist was in Clarksville as part of his Decision America Tennessee Tour. Lee told The Tennessee Star that he was moved last year when he heard Graham speak in Nashville. Graham encouraged Christians to become involved in politics and for Lee, already contemplating a run for governor, it was just what he needed to hear. It is Lee’s first run for political office. Lee said he is impressed with the whole Graham family and twice heard Billy Graham, Franklin Graham’s father, speak in Nashville. The family has a powerful message, Lee said. “It’s a legacy that impacts lives,” he said. Lee is chairman of Lee Company, a facilities and home services company. He also has a background in agriculture and continues to be involved in a cattle farm run by his family. He lives in Franklin and attends Grace Chapel, a nondenominational church in Leiper’s Fork. Franklin Graham Warns Clarksville Gathering About Compromised Christianity

Our country is in trouble, and so are our churches. That was the message Franklin Graham delivered Thursday evening in Clarksville. He pulled no punches in describing how Christians have compromised with a corrupt culture instead of adhering to Scripture and being a godly influence. A pilot for many years, Graham compared Christians who trust their feelings more than God’s word to pilots who trust their senses instead of their instruments, which can lead to a crash. “Many Christians in today’s churches are in a spiritual fog,” he said. “But they don’t know it. They’re being blinded by this godless corrupt culture of tolerance and political correctness.” The elder son of famed evangelist Billy Graham, Franklin Graham is president and CEO of Samaritan’s Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. He was in Clarksville as part of his Decision America Tennessee Tour. Graham is Southern Baptist but reaches across denominational lines. While he does not endorse candidates and is critical of both major political parties, Graham encourages political involvement and is seen as sympathetic toward conservative politics. He has spoken out against Islam and in defense of President Trump’s efforts to restrict immigration from some Muslim-majority countries, positions that…

Clarksville Crowd Eager Thursday To Hear From Franklin Graham

Tennessee Star

Larry Rye remembers going to tent revivals when he was growing up in Clarksville. There aren’t many tent revivals anymore these days, so when he heard that Franklin Graham was coming to town, he jumped at the chance to hear the Christian evangelist speak. Rye and his wife, Nece, are pastors for youth and children at Clarksville First Assembly of God. Their church heavily promoted Graham’s appearance Thursday evening at the Liberty Park amphitheatre. Rye and his wife were among those arriving early to the event. “We love America and would love to bring back the fire and desire for Christianity the way it used to be,” Rye said. If Rye and others were hoping for something that would bring back memories of tent revivals, Graham likely did not disappoint with his fervent warnings about sin, prayers of repentance and calls to accept Jesus. Rebecca Keene wasn’t sure what to expect. The Clarksville homemaker wasn’t very familiar with Graham, but came at the invitation of her mom, who drove from Knoxville for the event with a friend. “I figured I’d come out and see what it is about,” said Keene, who also was with two of her sons, ages…

Franklin Graham Draws Large Crowd in Clarksville

CLARKSVILLE, Tennessee–Thousands of people turned out in Clarksville Thursday evening to hear Franklin Graham say that America’s only hope is to turn back to God. The Christian evangelist spoke at the Liberty Park amphitheatre as part of his Decision America Tennessee Tour. He was in Chattanooga on Monday and will be in Jackson on Friday and Memphis on Sunday. Some people arrived more than two hours ahead of time to find good seats and more poured in later. “Wow, this is impressive,” Graham said as he surveyed the crowd while answering questions from the media before the start of the event. Graham told reporters that many Christians are being led astray today and that one of the reasons for that is they don’t know the Bible. Pastors need to get back to preaching straight from the Bible, from Genesis through Revelation, he said. “Read the Bible,” he said. “Know the word of God.” Graham said there is no special strategy for reaching people of different age groups. Everyone needs the same thing, and that’s the gospel message, he said. Neither political party in Washington, D.C., is capable of fixing the deep problems that afflict America, Graham said, emphasizing that…

Evangelist Franklin Graham Addresses Crowd of 2,000 in Chattanooga

By David Tulis / Noogaradio 1240 AM 92.7 FM CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Evangelist Franklin Graham spoke Monday in Chattanooga to a crowd of 2,000  that rallied in a park along the river as part of his Decision America tour through Tennessee. The son of famed evangelist Billy Graham presented the enthusiastic audience with a biblical analysis of the U.S. cultural decline, the fruits, he argued of de-Christianization of the country. Graham proposed Godly remedies for the country. Graham will be in Clarksville May 18, Jackson May 19 and Memphis May 21.  A rock band, the Afters, gave a popular flavor to the gathering with its thundering technical effects and appeals to emotion. The raising  of hand in the air, palms open to the sky, during the musical prelude indicated nearly everyone present was a practicing Christian. “Father, I pray that you would forgive the sins of our country, that you would heal our country, that you would bring us together spiritually, morally, politically at every level. But Father, it’s not going to happen unless we repent of our sins as a nation and turn to you and to your son, Jesus Christ,” Graham said. He prayed for “this community, the political…
