Georgia GOP Chairman Josh McKoon Appoints Dennis Futch to Chair New Initiative, Serve as Vice Chair of the Finance Committee

Chairman of the Georgia Republican Party (GAGOP) Josh McKoon recently announced his appointment of Dennis Futch to serve as vice chairman of the GAGOP Finance Committee and chairman of a new initiative launched by the party.

“As we remain laser focused on firing Joe Biden next year, we know that improved margins and increased turnout in rural Georgia is a key component to victory,” McKoon said in a statement. “Dennis Futch is the right man to help us build out the strategy to win big in rural Georgia next year. The Rural Mobilization Initiative is all about development and execution of a strategy to both improve our margins and increase voter turnout. I’m very excited to work with Dennis on this effort!”

Georgia GOP Censures Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger

The Georgia Republican Party passed a motion on Saturday at their state convention to formally censure current Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.

“A censure is about as strong as it gets out of here, other than our votes at the ballot box which is the most important censure of all,” added Mike Crane, District 3 Chairman of the state party, before reading the language of the censure.

Feds Threaten to Remove Work Requirement from Georgia’s Partial Medicaid Expansion

The federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) could decide in a matter of weeks whether it will remove the work or activity requirement in Georgia’s partial Medicaid expansion plan.

The CMS said the plan, which was approved by former President Donald Trump’s administration in October, does not “promote the objectives of the Medicaid program” and would be impossible to accomplish because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Georgia GOP Adopts Resolution Opposing Trump Impeachment

The Georgia GOP adopted a resolution Wednesday opposing the impeachment of former President Donald Trump, and noting the hypocrisy of the Democratic Party. 

“NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Georgia Republican Party, deploring senseless violence and destruction of all kinds, urges the United States Senate to end the impeachment proceeding as a provocative, unenforceable, and hypocritical miscarriage of justice,” a press release said.

Federal Judge Dismisses Georgia GOP Lawsuit Alleging Insecurity of Drop Boxes and Absentee Signature Verification

A federal judge dismissed a Georgia lawsuit Thursday challenging the legality of drop boxes and absentee signature verification. The suit, filed by the 12th Congressional District Republican Committee, sought to eliminate the use of absentee ballot drop boxes and invalidate signature matching protocol added earlier this year and for the runoff election.
