Greater Georgia Launches Ads to Boost Turnout in State House Race to Replace Bert Reeves

Greater Georgia members have launched a digital ad campaign to boost voter turnout for the special election for State House District 34, which includes Marietta.

Group members said the ad highlights “the Radical Left’s misinformation campaign that cost Cobb County countless jobs and a $100-million opportunity.”

This, according to a press release that Greater Georgia emailed Monday.

According to its website, Greater Georgia members support, among other things, individual liberties, lower taxes, and educational choice.

“Whether spreading lies to undermine our elections in Georgia, calling for trillions in government programs, or canceling anyone who disagrees with them, it’s clear the Left’s overreach is out of touch with Georgia values,” said Greater Georgia Chairwoman Kelly Loeffler, in the press release.

“While Stacey Abrams and liberals push for boycotts, ballot harvesting, and taxpayer-funded political campaigns, we will continue to focus on protecting election integrity, voter confidence, and local control.”

The ad will run on Facebook until June 15, the day of the election, specifically targeting voters in House District 34, the press release said.

Greater Georgia officials have also spearheaded grassroots efforts to get out the vote in District 34, including a registration campaign, door-knocking, text-messaging, phone-banking, and traditional mail.

The voter registration deadline was May 17. Advance and in-person early voting began May 24, according to a Greater Georgia newsletter.

Cobb County officials announced the special election on their website to fill a vacancy due to the resignation of State Rep. Bert Reeves (R-Marietta). Georgia Secretary of State officials also notified the public. Officials with the Atlanta-based Georgia Institute of Technology announced they hired Reeves to serve as their vice president for Institute Relations.

Voters first elected Reeves to the Georgia General Assembly in November 2014. While there, Reeves served as a floor leader for the governor, and also as vice chairman of the Judiciary Non-Civil Committee. He was also vice chairman of the Higher Education Committee, as well as a member on the Appropriations, Insurance, Judiciary, Juvenile Justice, Science and Technology, and Ways and Means committees.

Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said in April that her organization will hold U.S. President Joe Biden and other Democrats accountable for putting out false narratives about Georgia’s voter integrity law. McDaniel said Democrats’ distortions cost Georgia millions of dollars when Major League Baseball pulled events out of the state.

Georgia’s new voter integrity law requires voter ID on all absentee ballots, increases oversight of local election boards that fail to follow state election law, and secures drop boxes around the clock. Major League Baseball officials announced earlier this year they will relocate the 2021 All-Star Game and MLB Draft, originally scheduled for Atlanta, to another location. MLB officials specifically cited Georgia’s voter integrity law, also known as Senate Bill 202 as the reason.
