Walz Promises Harris Will Help Middle Class in DNC Speech

Democratic vice presidential nominee and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz leaned heavily into his Midwestern roots in his speech that wrapped up the third night of the Democratic National Convention Wednesday, painting the Harris-Walz ticket as pro-middle class, pro-freedom, and pro-neighborliness.

The night, themed “A fight for our freedoms,” also featured former President Bill Clinton, former U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, celebrity Oprah Winfrey, and Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg as speakers on issues including the environment, abortion access, and gun violence.

Steve Cortes, former senior spokesman and strategist for the 2016 and 2020 Trump campaigns and current head of the League of American Workers, is warning that Kamala Harris’ vow to pass the first federal ban on price gouging if she becomes president would lead to “scarcity, shortages, and black markets” for everyday goods in America.

Last week, during a campaign event in North Carolina, Harris said her plan to lower the prices of everyday goods if she were elected president would be to go after the “bad actor” businesses that are not “playing by the rules” by working to pass the first-ever federal ban on price gouging.

As of Thursday, Harris, who has officially become the Democratic Party’s 2024 presidential nominee, has refused to sit down for a media interview or hold a formal press conference for 25 consecutive days.

Peter D’Abrosca, reporter at The Tennessee Star, said the Biden administration’s Department of Justice (DOJ) appears not to be interested in investigating ActBlue, the online fundraising platform for Democratic candidates, for alleged fraudulent activity.

On Monday, D’Abrosca exclusively reported that ActBlue reported to campaign finance authorities that seven Tennesseans “donated” to the online platform more than 1,000 times since the beginning of 2023.
