More Than Two Dozen House Republicans Demand Special Counsel Appointed to Investigate Election Irregularities

A group of 27 Republican congressmen urged President Donald Trump to order a Justice Department-appointed special counsel investigation of “legitimate questions” about election irregularities.

The Republican congressmen asked Trump to direct Attorney General William Barr to appoint the special counsel, according to a letter obtained by Politico that was sent to the White House on Wednesday. Reps. Lance Gooden, Paul Gosar, Louie Gohmert, Scott Perry and Jody Hice were among the 27 congressmen who signed onto the letter.

House Passes Eight Police Reform Bills, Republicans Feel Unheard

House Democrats passed eight different policing reform bills during its Friday session, leaving Republicans lawmakers feeling ignored and unheard by the majority.

Analysis: The Republicans’ Path to a House Majority in 2020

The House of Representatives is in play and Republicans have a real shot at recapturing control of the lower chamber after their dismal performance in 2018.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D.-Calif.) deserves credit for her success passing legislation and articles of impeachment, but that it more a testament to her mastery of the whip count than her overwhelming numbers. House Democrats are holding, if not a slim majority, a fragile one.

Commentary: Five House Republicans Who Need Conservative Primary Opponents

by CHQ Staff   Sometimes there are issues upon which conservative opinion and principle diverges and the conservative movement has no consensus – what constitutes “free trade” might fall into that category. However, we can find no divergence of principle on the issues raised by the Democrats’ recent passage of H. Res. 124, a bill urging the military hierarchy to disobey lawful presidential directives on transgenderism and military service. Five House Republicans joined Democrats in voting for this abomination of constitutional order, military discipline and common sense. Republican Representatives Fitzpatrick, Hollingsworth, Hurd (TX), Katko and Reed all voted with the Democrats to strongly urge the Department of Defense to not reinstate President Trump’s ban on transgender members of the Armed Forces and “to maintain an inclusive policy allowing qualified transgender Americans to enlist and serve in the Armed Forces.” Never mind that courts have found there is no right to serve in the military. This is nothing less than Democrats urging an overthrow of the constitutional order that provides for civilian control of the military through the Article II designation of the President as Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces. That five Republicans would join Democrats in such an anti-constitutional usurpation…

Commentary: House Republicans’ First Mistake – Playing On The Democrats’ Field

by George Rasley   The House Republicans first day in the minority got off to an inauspicious start via Rep. Liz Cheney’s introduction and nomination of Kevin McCarthy as Speaker of the House. Cheney began the speech by pandering to liberal feminists by citing what an honor it was to speak in the House Chamber where the 19th Amendment granting women the right to vote was passed. Setting aside the fact that the 19th Amendment passed 99 years ago, what that had to do with Kevin McCarthy, a fairly obvious male, the House Republicans’ agenda or anything else was obscure to most listeners. It’s not that Rep. Cheney didn’t proceed to list a bunch of things House Republicans are (more or less) for or against – it is that she failed to articulate those things into a coherent worldview that could be weighed against the Democrats’ worldview. This was a great disappointment because when Rep. Cheney ran for House Conference Chairman, we had high expectations for her based on the agenda she set forth before and after the vote. Just this past Sunday Cheney vowed on Sunday to “fight hard” against socialist policies Democrats may pursue as the majority party…

Conservatives in the House of Representatives are calling for the elimination of all U.S. funding for the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, an international organization headquartered in a chateau in Paris.
