Crom Carmichael Analyses the Independent Thinking of Republicans Versus the Lock Step of Democrats

Live from Music Row Monday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. –  host Leahy welcomed all-star panelist Crom Carmichael to the newsmakers one to discuss the independent thinking of Republicans versus the lockstep hive mind of Democrats.

Leahy: Usually almost every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in studio joining us is the original all-star panelists Crom Carmichael, but because discretion is the better part of valor and because the weather is terrible. It is 23 degrees out there and there’s ice and snow on the roads Crom joins us this morning on the newsmaker line. Good morning Crom.

Carmichael: Good morning, Michael. How are you, sir?

Leahy: I’m fine.

Carmichael: I’m glad to see you got in.

Leahy: Yeah, we got in late last night and stayed at the ALoft Hotel. If that’s how you pronounce it. It’s not too far away and about two and a half blocks of a walk from the studio. So we’re safe and sound. But let me tell you something. Driving it in last night at about 6:00 o’clock it took me an hour and 20 minutes to drive what usually takes me about half an hour or so. I’m glad you are safe and sound at at the Carmichael manse this morning and not traveling over icy roads here to get into the studio.

Yes, Every Kid

Carmichael: Well my advice to anybody that has to travel today is to think ahead and pick a flat route.

Leahy: Boy, that is smart. You know, since you mentioned that, there are a couple of ways to get out of our development in Thompson Station. And one way is if you get out and you take the East exit and you go north on a road, there’s a there’s about a 10-degree slope at the end of that road. Another way if you get out of the South exit and you turn right and you go West there is about a three-degree slope. Last night  I took the three-degree slope. I usually take the ten-degree slope.

Carmichael: Yeah. Well, I mean you don’t think ahead you can get yourself trapped because these roads are like ice. So anyway glad that you made it grab that you made it in and it’s wise that you plan to head to get down there last night rather than try to get in there this morning.

Leahy: We had a little bit of news over the weekend. On Saturday the Senate voted not to convict President Donald Trump. It was 57-43. The needed two-thirds. Did you watch any of that drama Crom? And what are your thoughts on it?

Carmichael: Well, I watched very little of it and I think the right word is they voted to acquit. Which I’m concerned that exonerates Trump. But let’s look at what we’ve learned from this. One is that it is easy to be angry with Liz Cheney and some other Republicans and Mitt Romney. And they may lose their next election. But what it does show is that Republicans are independent thinkers. They are not tied to the lash by the leadership.

Whereas in the Democrats case every single Democrat in the House and every single Democrat in the Senate voted to impeach and in the Senate to convict. Every single one. Which shows you that they are not allowed to think. Even Joe Manchin the so-called great independent. (Leahy chuckles) This shows you the difference between the parties. Let me take that to a whole different level.

And by the way, it also shows that the Democrats in Washington are incredibly self-absorbed and incredibly selfish. Because part of the evidence offered by Trump’s lawyers were the terrible riots and the language of the Democrats used all through the summer. And they didn’t care that people were killed and injured. They didn’t care that billions of dollars of property damage happened. I mean literally, they did not care. And they still don’t care.

You can still see it. Let’s move over one lane to New York State. You have Andrew Cuomo and his right-hand person Melissa DeRosa apologizing to Democrats for a cover-up. In the apology, she is admitting to a vast cover-up and not only a vast cover-up but also apologizing for her boss’s continuance of the program of the edict to force nursing home patients who are COVID positive back from hospitals into nursing homes where they infected and ultimately killed thousands of other senior citizens.

And her apology was not an apology for the people who died, it was an apology for the cover-up. And then she tried to walk it back. And no Democrat has yet apologized to any of the family members whose parents and grandparents, in my opinion, you’ve got to think of the word murder because it was premeditated.

And if the Democrats and nobody tries Cuomo it should give all of us great pause as to the mentality of the Democrat Party. And let me say this when I was on the radio in the 80s and 90s I had issues with Democrats, but there weren’t issues like this. I mean, this is a true head-scratcher that you see so little remorse. And Biden embraced him in the White House knowing of what Melissa DeRosa had said.

Leahy: Embraced them over the weekend and didn’t bring that up at all.

Carmichael: Right. This should concern us greatly about Biden because what we now know is that he thinks if he says something that is contradicted by his actions that what he says is what people should believe. And even the press when it comes to Biden is beginning to have a difficult time with that. Now they’re in lockstep too because their jobs are dependent upon what their boss is thinking and their bosses are tied to the lash also of the Democrat Party.

And so they’re not going to be critical. But the events of the day may simply overwhelm both the Democrats and their media allies because we don’t know what’s going to happen in the future. Now looking back at the impeachment and the so-called trial was really more or less a spectacle. And by the way, there are some people like The Wall Street Journal the claim that this is a great day for the Constitution and a bad day for Trump. I’m not sure it’s about a bad day for Trump. Democrats are still trying to figure out how to how to try him and convict him of a felony in a court of law.

Leahy: Oh, yeah.

Carmichael: They are still going after him over financial stuff. It’s much more difficult to do that because when you’re dealing with very very large financial institutions and big loans, I will promise you that within all of the documentation that the Trump organization has supplied there are a bunch of independent appraisals by third parties and all these properties.

Leahy: Yes. Hard to do. What’s interesting Crom is what you’re talking about and it looks to me like a clear-cut case of obstruction of justice on the part of Cuomo because he concealed the actual deaths from COVID-19 from nursing homes. And concealed it from the Department of Justice. We’re going to take a little break here in a second Crom, but when we come back, what I want to ask you is this. Do you think the Department of Justice under Joe Biden will prosecute Governor Cuomo? Or will the New York State Attorney General prosecute what seems to be a clear case of obstruction of justice?
