Timothy Hill Appointed as Interim State Representative for House District 3, Picks up Endorsement from Americans for Prosperity Action

Americans for Prosperity Action – Tennessee (AFP Action-TN) congratulated former Tennessee State Representative Timothy Hill on his appointment as the interim state representative for District 3.  AFP Action-TN endorsed him for the special Republican primary election in June.

During Thursday’s special called meeting by the Johnson County Commission Timothy Hill was appointed as the interim successor for District 3’s state representative. Hill received 14 yes votes and one pass.

Hill competed against candidates Neal Kerney, Angie Stanley, Stacy Vaughan, and Lori Love for the role of interim successor.

“Thank you to all of those who expressed their willingness to serve and for those who came to tonight’s meeting,” the Johnson County government Facebook page wrote in a Thursday post following the meeting.

Hill succeeds former Republican State Representative Scotty Campbell, who resigned from his post in April over sexual harassment allegations, as previously reported by The Tennessee Star. Hill represented Tennessee’s 3rd House District from 2012 to 2020 and was succeeded by Campbell.

“We are excited to welcome Rep. Timothy Hill back to the State House. Hill is a proven constitutional conservative that is committed to fighting inflation and expanding economic opportunities for all Tennesseans,” AFP Action-TN Senior Advisor Tori Venable said in a statement. “As a former State Rep., we trust that Hill will continue to champion solutions to lower tax burdens for a more prosperous Tennessee. On education, Hill believes in parents’ right to choose the best education for their child and will work to increase educational freedom.”

“We look forward to connecting with thousands of voters at the doors to encourage them to vote for the proven Constitutional conservative, Timothy Hill during this special Republican primary,” Venable added.

Governor Bill Lee issued a Writ of Election shortly after Campbell’s resignation, ordering a special election to fill the seat’s vacancy. Early voting for the special election will open on June 2 with the special primary scheduled for June 22.

The special general election is scheduled for August 3.
