Trump Says He Told Ivanka, Jared Kushner, to Not Help with 2024 Campaign

Former President Donald Trump said he asked his daughter, Ivanka, and her husband, Jared Kushner, to not be involved in his 2024 reelection campaign.

“Contrary to Fake News reporting, I never asked Jared or Ivanka to be part of the 2024 Campaign for President and, in fact, specifically asked them not to do it – too mean and nasty with the Fake & Corrupt News and having to deal with some absolutely horrendous SleazeBags in the world of politics, and beyond,” Trump wrote Tuesday on Truth Social.

Trey Gowdy Sends Letter to White House for Details on Ivanka Trump’s Email Use

by Henry Rodgers   House Oversight Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy sent a letter to the White House Wednesday asking for details regarding Ivanka Trump’s use of a private email account. The letter comes after a report broke Monday night that the first daughter used it to conduct government business and schedule meetings in the beginning months of the administration. The letter is addressed to White House Chief of Staff John Kelly. “In light of the importance and necessity of preserving the public record and doing so in a manner that is reflective of relevant statutory and regulatory requirements, the Committee must assess whether the White House took adequate steps to archive Ms. Trump’s emails and prevent a recurrence,” wrote Gowdy, a Republican from South Carolina. “We launched a bipartisan investigation last year into White House officials’ use of private email accounts for official business, but the White House never gave us the information we requested,” Maryland Rep. Elijah Cummings, the likely incoming Democratic chairman of the committee, said in a Tuesday statement. “We need those documents to ensure that Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner, and other officials are complying with federal records laws and there is a complete record of the activities of…

Ivanka’s Personal Email Use Could be a Gift to Democrats Looking to Investigate White House

by Chris White   Ivanka Trump used a private email account in 2017 to conduct official government business, according to a White House review. The news gives incoming House Democrats another potential opening for congressional oversight hearings. The first daughter’s email use included exchanges with cabinet secretaries, among other forms of correspondence, The New York Times reported Monday night, citing sources who’ve seen the emails. The story also places more pressure on House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi to cave into Democratic members who are intent on wrapping the White House in probes. The Washington Post initially reported on the scope of Trump’s email use, noting Monday that there were several related to government business, but hundreds of others related to schedules. Her email usage also rehashes reports from 2016 concerning Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server when she was the secretary of state. Abbe Lowell, a lawyer for Trump, did not respond to The NYT’s request for comment but a spokesman for the lawyer confirmed again that Trump had used personal email for a time before she transitioned into government. “To address misinformation being peddled about Ms. Trump’s personal email, she did not create a private server in her house…

Trump, First Family Honor 11 Killed in Synagogue Massacre

by Fred Lucas   President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump, in a visit Tuesday, placed a white flower and small stone on each of 11 stars set up in the memory of those murdered at a synagogue in Pittsburgh. The Trumps also lighted candles in honor of each man and woman killed Saturday inside the Tree of Life synagogue in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood. They met with Rabbi Jeffrey Myers, who leads the congregation. But amid the tragedy, the visit didn’t bridge all political divides. Protesters held signs such as “We didn’t invite you here” and “Trump Loves Nazis,” according to reports from the White House press pool. Others held up a middle finger or gave a thumbs-down. Other protesters shouted, “Words have meaning” and “No more hate.” The president and first lady were at the Tree of Life synagogue for about 20 minutes, along with White House advisers Ivanka Trump, the president’s eldest daughter, and Jared Kushner, his son-in-law. Both are Jewish. Today, I traveled with the President, First Lady, Secretary Mnuchin and my husband Jared to Pittsburgh to pay our respects at The Tree of Life synagogue and visit with first responders. We saw firsthand a community…

Ivanka Trump to Shutter Fashion Line, Focus on Government

Tennessee Star

Reuters   President Donald Trump’s oldest daughter, Ivanka Trump, is closing her fashion line to focus her energies on advising her father’s White House, she said through a representative on Tuesday. Trump, whose fortune comes from real estate development, came into office carrying a broad family business portfolio that trades heavily on the family name. The president has made regular visits to Trump-branded properties during his time in office, prompting some critics to complain that he is using the profile of his office to promote his private businesses. “After seventeen months, without a time frame for her return, Ivanka made the difficult decision that to be fair to the brand’s partners and its employees, the business should be wound down,” a representative for Ivanka Trump’s fashion line said in a statement on Tuesday. The company said licensing contracts would not be renewed and those in place will be allowed to run their course. Trump’s combative style on the campaign trail and as president have drawn the family’s brands into political fights, with some supporters hosting events at the luxury Trump International Hotel blocks from the White House while opponents have called for boycotts of the family’s businesses. In early 2017…
