Early Voting Concludes as Voters Head to the Polls for Primary Runoff Election Day

Early voting has concluded as Georgia voters make their way to the polls Tuesday to cast their ballots in the midterm primary election runoff. Republicans in the 2nd, 6th, 7th and 10th House Congressional Districts, including two Trump endorsees, are all facing off.   

“These runoffs are very interesting races. Very low turnout. So far, there have been only 14,000 people that voted in all of Georgia’s Sixth District,” the Trump-endorsed Jake Evans said on the John Fredericks Radio show on Monday. “This is 100% a turnout game. We feel very strong about the position we’re in.”

Jake Evans Calls the January 6th Committee a ‘Political Witch Hunt’

Jake Evans, the Trump endorsee who made it to Georgia’s Sixth Congressional District primary runoff against Rich McCormick, contended that the “Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol” is a “political witch hunt.”

“The hearings [Thursday] are theatre to change the topic from [the Democrats’] failing agenda,” said Evans in a statement released to supporters on Thursday.

Jake Evans, Vernon Jones Among a Growing Group Calling for Closed Primary Voting System in Georgia

Jake Evans, the Trump-endorsed candidate in the Republican primary runoff election for Georgia’s 6th Congressional District, on Wednesday criticized the Peach State’s open primary system and called for a closed primary voting process.

“Our open primary system allows for partisans to sabotage the primaries of their political opponents,” Evans said in a statement sent to supporters.

Jake Evans, the Trump-endorsed candidate in the Republican primary runoff election for Georgia’s 6th Congressional District, criticized his opponent Rich McCormick’s stance on the 2nd amendment on The John Fredericks Show on Tuesday.

“[McCormick] is backed by special interest groups. AMA is one of them, the American Medical Association. If you look at their website they are clear. They are a liberal organization. Make no bones about it,” Evans said.

Georgia CD-6, HD-24, and HD-28 Primary Runoff Candidates to Attend Stump Speech and Cookout Saturday

Georgia primary runoff elections candidates from Congressional District Six, and State House Districts 24 and 28 will attend a stump speech and cookout event on Saturday hosted in Cumming by the Forsyth County Republican Party (FCRP).

“Join us for a family cookout of hamburgers and hot dogs while we hear from our runoff candidates,” said the Forsyth County GOP in a weekly online update.

GA-6 Republican Nomination Will Be Decided in June 21 Runoff

The Republican nomination for Georgia’s 6th Congressional District will be decided in a run off election that is scheduled to occur on June 21.

Former chairman of the Georgia Ethics Commission and the Trump-endorsed candidate Jake Evans, who came in second place in the May 24 primary, will face off against physician Rich McCormick in the run off because no candidate achieved the 50 percent threshold.

Jake Evans, the 6th Congressional District candidate endorsed by Donald Trump, spoke with The Georgia Star News on Friday about his success fighting for election integrity in the 2020 elections in Banks, Stephens, and Habersham Counties.

Evans stated, “[I’m the] only lawyer in Georgia history to overturn two elections in the same race, and then I contested the other one down in Long County. So, we found people that voted twice. We found people voting in a district they didn’t live in. We found people that were wrongly assigned a district. We found people who hadn’t signed absentee ballots. There’s fraud out there. It’s a thing.”

Former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Newt Gingrich released a video on Facebook urging the voters of Georgia’s 6th Congressional District to vote for Jake Evans in the Republican primary that is scheduled for May 24.

I was Speaker of the House and we developed the Contract with America to get America back on track with solid, conservative ideas – balancing the budget, reforming welfare, cutting taxes – and I wanted to take a minute or two just to share with you about a good friend of mine who’s running for Congress,” he said.

The Trump-appointed former acting attorney general stated on Monday, “Jake shares my passion for backing the men and women in law enforcement who put their own safety on the line, make life-and-death decisions and face contempt and hate from the Left at every turn. Donald J. Trump officially gave his endorsement to Jake Evans, U.S. House Representative Candidate for Georgia’s 6th congressional District, when he announced late Thursday, “I am honored to give Jake Evans my Complete and Total Endorsement!”

In response to Trump’s endorsement, Jake Evans, current chairman of Georgia’s State Ethics Commission, said, “Thank you President Trump for your endorsement! I will fight for YOU and the America First Agenda. Together, we will DEFEAT Biden, FIRE Pelosi and SAVE America!”

Republican Rich McCormick Announces He Will Switch Districts and Run in Georgia’s Sixth District

Republican Rich McCormick, who in 2020 lost Georgia’s Seventh Congressional District race to Representative Carolyn Bourdeaux (D-GA-07), announced Tuesday he’s running again — but this time for the state’s Sixth Congressional District.

McCormick told The Georgia Star News that the newly redrawn Seventh District is now a 65 percent Democrat stronghold. He said any Republican would have a difficult time competing there.

“There is nobody that has a claim to the Sixth [District] any more than I do,” McCormick said.

Jake Evans, the chairman of the Georgia ethics commission, stepped down from his position on Monday amid wide speculation that he will enter the U.S. House of Representatives race to challenge incumbent Rep. Lucy McBath (D-GA-06).

“We made great strides in making Georgia politics transparent and ethical. I will forever cherish this chapter of public service and trust in God’s plan for me and my family,” Evans said a tweet attached to his resignation letter.

Georgia Approves Carter Center Founded by Democratic Ex-President to Monitor Recount But Rejects Trump’s Request to Do the Same

The State of Georgia approved a center founded by Democratic ex-president Jimmy Carter to monitor the recount, but will not allow President Donald Trump to do the same.

The Carter Center on Friday said Republican Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger’s office accredited it to “monitor the risk-limiting audit taking place in the state of Georgia.”
