Early Voting Concludes as Voters Head to the Polls for Primary Runoff Election Day

Early voting has concluded as Georgia voters make their way to the polls Tuesday to cast their ballots in the midterm primary election runoff. Republicans in the 2nd, 6th, 7th and 10th House Congressional Districts, including two Trump endorsees, are all facing off.   

“These runoffs are very interesting races. Very low turnout. So far, there have been only 14,000 people that voted in all of Georgia’s Sixth District,” the Trump-endorsed Jake Evans said on the John Fredericks Radio show on Monday. “This is 100% a turnout game. We feel very strong about the position we’re in.”

Jake Evans Calls the January 6th Committee a ‘Political Witch Hunt’

Jake Evans, the Trump endorsee who made it to Georgia’s Sixth Congressional District primary runoff against Rich McCormick, contended that the “Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol” is a “political witch hunt.”

“The hearings [Thursday] are theatre to change the topic from [the Democrats’] failing agenda,” said Evans in a statement released to supporters on Thursday.

Jake Evans, Vernon Jones Among a Growing Group Calling for Closed Primary Voting System in Georgia

Jake Evans, the Trump-endorsed candidate in the Republican primary runoff election for Georgia’s 6th Congressional District, on Wednesday criticized the Peach State’s open primary system and called for a closed primary voting process.

“Our open primary system allows for partisans to sabotage the primaries of their political opponents,” Evans said in a statement sent to supporters.

Georgia primary runoff elections candidates from Congressional District Six, and State House Districts 24 and 28 will attend a stump speech and cookout event on Saturday hosted in Cumming by the Forsyth County Republican Party (FCRP).

“Join us for a family cookout of hamburgers and hot dogs while we hear from our runoff candidates,” said the Forsyth County GOP in a weekly online update.

The Republican nomination for Georgia’s 6th Congressional District will be decided in a run off election that is scheduled to occur on June 21.

Former chairman of the Georgia Ethics Commission and the Trump-endorsed candidate Jake Evans, who came in second place in the May 24 primary, will face off against physician Rich McCormick in the run off because no candidate achieved the 50 percent threshold.

Republican Rich McCormick Announces He Will Switch Districts and Run in Georgia’s Sixth District

Republican Rich McCormick, who in 2020 lost Georgia’s Seventh Congressional District race to Representative Carolyn Bourdeaux (D-GA-07), announced Tuesday he’s running again — but this time for the state’s Sixth Congressional District.

McCormick told The Georgia Star News that the newly redrawn Seventh District is now a 65 percent Democrat stronghold. He said any Republican would have a difficult time competing there.

“There is nobody that has a claim to the Sixth [District] any more than I do,” McCormick said.

The State of Georgia approved a center founded by Democratic ex-president Jimmy Carter to monitor the recount, but will not allow President Donald Trump to do the same.

The Carter Center on Friday said Republican Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger’s office accredited it to “monitor the risk-limiting audit taking place in the state of Georgia.”
