Crom’s Crommentary: Ben Franklin Once Said, ‘It’s a Republic If You Can Keep It’; We’ll See If We Can Keep It

Live from Music Row Friday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. – host Leahy welcomed original all-star panelist Crom Carmichael to the studio for another edition of Crom’s Crommentary.

CROM CARMICHAEL:

Michael, in the last couple of days, the EPA has promulgated new regulations that are likely illegal. But they’ve promulgated ’em nonetheless. That is, according to The Wall Street Journal, it is essentially a death sentence for power plants that are run on fossil fuels, which is the vast majority of our energy.

The article goes on to say that the laws are likely illegal and that they would be held by the Supreme Court to be unconstitutional. Then we also look at our southern border and we see the Biden administration not upholding the laws that are on the books in regards to immigration. They’re just changing the laws.

It’s an Alice Wonderland-type law meaning only what I want them to mean. Nothing more, nothing less. Then you begin to then understand why. It is that the left is so determined to change the nature of the Supreme Court because the Supreme Court is the third branch of government and the branch of government that can thwart illegal activities by the federal government.

And so they’re attacking Clarence Thomas. They’re trying to compare him to Abe Fortis which is a false comparison. They might as well just go ahead and compare him to Jimmy Hoffa or Don Corleone. because the comparisons are about the same.

Now they are launching investigations. It won’t go anywhere because it is a third co-equal branch of government and the Congress doesn’t have any right to launch investigations on members of the Supreme Court. They can oversee the executive branch but they can’t launch their own investigations on the Supreme Court.

Yes, Every Kid

They’re going to hold hearings anyway, but they can’t force them to testify about the information that they get. The Senate Judiciary Committee has some very fine people on that committee who are Republicans and they will likely just simply point out the discrepancies and the errors in the testimony of the left-leaning people who are called to testify.

But that doesn’t change the fact that the left is in fact trying to destroy the legitimacy of the Supreme Court. And that should be of great concern or frightening to all of us. But this goes back to the heart of the problem, Michael, and that is that the Democrat party has most unfortunately, become the party of government.

And that’s why when you look at Biden’s poll numbers and you say, how in the world can the Democrat party put up a candidate who can’t complete three sentences whose polling numbers are now into the mid-thirties and falling and why is nobody who is a legitimate Democrat running?

I’m not calling Robert F. Kennedy a bad person, but he certainly isn’t somebody that the Democrat party would even call a legitimate Democrat. And so I ask, why aren’t any of the other people running against Biden?

And that is that they know that the fix is in. And that the Democrat Party threw their money and threw the voting laws or lack of laws into the key battleground states they are confident that they could elect a fence post as president.

In fact, we’re now going to find out whether or not they can elect a crooked fence post. And so that’s where we are and it’s a very difficult place to be. We’ll find out over the next 18 months whether or not our Republic will stand. As Ben Franklin once said, it’s a republic if you can keep it and we’ll see if we can keep it.
