Trump Files Lawsuit to Keep His Name on Michigan 2024 Ballot

Former President Donald Trump sued Democratic Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson on Monday to prevent her from keeping him off the state’s 2024 election ballot.

The lawsuit, filed in the Michigan Court of Claims, asks the court to issue an injunction barring Benson from removing him from the ballot and to find that she lacks the authority to decide whether or not he is qualified. Michigan is one of many states where a lawsuit has been filed to remove Trump from the ballot under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, which bars officials who took an oath to the Constitution and then “engaged in insurrection” from holding office.

State Election Officials Say They Will Defer to the Courts on Removing Trump from 2024 Ballot

Top election officials in multiple states have said they would defer to the courts on the question of removing former President Donald Trump from the 2024 ballot.

Lawsuits to remove Trump from the ballot under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, which bars certain government officials who took an oath to the Constitution and then “engaged in insurrection” from holding office, have been filed in a number of states, including Colorado, Michigan, and Minnesota. Democratic and Republican secretaries of state in places where lawsuits have been filed say this is a question the courts need to weigh in on, according to multiple reports.

Zuckerberg-Funded Election Group Refuses to Allow Star News Network into Media Briefing

After registering through the appropriate channels and having its attendance confirmed, The Star News Network Wednesday was kicked out of media briefing by a left-wing election group that is funded by Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg. 

Center for Election Innovation & Research (CEIR) held a media briefing to discuss what it calls “efforts to undermine Democracy in several states,” including Wisconsin, where former state Supreme Court Justice Mike Gableman has been investigating 2020’s election integrity in the state.

Lawsuit Alleges Michigan Secretary of State Failed to Maintain Accurate Voter Rolls

A lawsuit, initiated by the Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF), on Thursday alleges that Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson has continuously failed to maintain accurate and current voter rolls, as required by federal law.

The suit, filed in the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan, details that Benson has failed to remove deceased registrants from the voter rolls.

Congressional Candidate Calls for Investigation of How Zuckerberg-Funded Nonprofit MCELA Influenced 2020 Election in Michigan

  Congressional candidate and current State Representative Steve Carra (R-59) is calling for a legislative investigation into the role of Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson in funnelling outside money into the 2020 election. Carra is a first-term Republican representative for House District 59 in Southwest Michigan and has been a leader of the movement to audit the November 3 election. “We have the ability and authority to subpoena records and witnesses. I would love to use subpoena powers to get to the bottom of what happened in the last election,” Carra told The Michigan Star in an exclusive interview. The Star broke the story on August 5 of how an obscure nonprofit, the Michigan Center for Election Law and Administration (MCELA), received a $12 million grant to support its purported purpose of “nonpartisan voter education” and then turned all but a sliver of the money over to two Democratic political consulting firms for a get-out-the-vote campaign. Benson founded MCELA in 2008 and served as president of the board for most of its existence up to and including 2020, two years after she was elected as secretary of state.
