The Middle Resolution PAC announced Friday that it is supporting Glenn Youngkin for governor, Winsome Sears for lieutenant governor, and Jason Miyares for attorney general in the Virginia elections in November.
“Republicans in Virginia have excellent choices for statewide office this year. As Virginians, we can be proud of the men and women who have stepped forward to lead our state in a very difficult political environment,” Middle Resolution President Craig DiSesa said. “We believe that a ticket of Glenn Youngkin, Winsome Sears and Jason Miyares present the Commonwealth with the strongest advantage to win in November.”
DiSesa added that the Virginia-based PAC will work “diligently” to help these candidates prevail at the Virginia Republican Party Convention on May 8.
“I encourage every registered Convention delegate to join us and vote for Glenn, Winsome and Jason as we work together to make the Commonwealth a place where both businesses and families can prosper once again,” he said.
Middle Resolution PAC expanded on its reasoning to support these candidates after they made their decisions know.
The PAC called Youngkin someone who could “be counted on to earn support from both the large and small business communities while streamlining core government functions and building efficiencies that are sorely needed.”
In its description of Miyares, the free-market PAC said that his prior experience as a delegate and legal background has “prepared him” for the attorney general job.
When talking about Sears, the PAC said she speaks “forthrightly to the complex issues” and has “respect for individual liberty and freedom.”
These candidates have a long way to go till the November election.
In terms of fundraising, all three of Middle Resolution’s picks are in the top tier in their respective races.
In the gubernatorial race, Youngkin outraised the field $7.6 million compared to former New Media Strategies CEO Pete Snyder who received $6.4 million. Both of these candidates raised more money than any Democratic gubernatorial candidate.
Miyares took in $230,000 in the first quarter, which was the most for Republican candidates running for attorney general. Lawyer Chuck Smith finished second with a total of $137,000 in donations.
Sears collected $191,000 during the first quarter, but this was only good for second place among lieutenant governor candidates. Former Delegate Tim Hugo took in the most money at $198,000.
