Commentary: Pelosi and Schiff Conduct Warrantless Surveillance on Nunes, Solomon, Sekulow and Giuliani

It appears that House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) managed to get AT&T and Verizon to cooperate with a Congressional subpoena to provide phone records of President Donald Trump’s personal attorneys Rudy Giuliani and Jay Sekulow, U.S. Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), the ranking member of the committee for Republicans, and journalist John Solomon.

Marsha Blackburn: Democrats Risk Alienating Americans With Trump Impeachment Inquiry

U.S. Republican Sen. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee said Thursday that Democrats risk angering a lot of Americans if they move forward with an impeachment inquiry into U.S. Republican President Donald Trump. Blackburn said as much during a scheduled phone call with reporters from around the state. “This announcement (of the impeachment inquiry) was really the culmination of what has been a three-year push for them, and I think if you look at all the polling if they move forward with it they are going to do this at their own risk of alienating a lot of Americans,” Blackburn said. “Based on the transcript that was released yesterday it seems that the House Democrats might have jumped the gun on this one. The bottom line is if we see a big impeachment investigation starting in the House and it gets to the Senate (then) the Democrats are not going to have the votes from Republicans to do a conviction. We’re going to continue to watch this as it plays out.” During the call, Blackburn cited a December 2016 Vanity Fair article, published before Trump took office, that portrayed Democrats as eager to impeach the new president. The title of the…

Commentary: Pelosi’s Call for Impeaching Trump on Ukraine Risks War, Ignores Obama-Biden Fueled Corruption

“This week, the president has admitted to asking the president of Ukraine to take actions which would benefit him politically. Therefore, today, I’m announcing the House of Representatives is moving forward with an official impeachment inquiry. I’m directing our six committees to proceed with their investigations under that umbrella.”

Bill Hagerty Commentary: Democrats Call for Impeachment, While Trump Puts America First

by Bill Hagerty   Another week, another set of Democrats calling to impeach President Donald J. Trump. As usual, they are propelled by the liberal media’s latest antics. Now, 165 Democrats (and counting), including both of Tennessee’s Democratic congressmen have joined the call. That is a clear majority of House Democrats, led by Nancy Pelosi and “The Squad,” who are calling for impeachment. It’s a continuation of what we’ve seen every day since Tuesday, November 8, 2016, when the American people sent Donald Trump to the White House. Ever since that day, radical liberals have refused to accept that Hillary Clinton lost. They have focused on tearing him down, rather than working with him to make life better for Tennesseans. Unfortunately, their calls for impeachment are more than just political talking points. Their investigations are real, and therefore, so is their waste of taxpayer dollars. The House Judiciary Committee held its first impeachment hearing last week, and the American people were once again bombarded by the Left’s political antics. It’s a disgrace and an insult to the will of the people. They will continue their fight to impeach our President, but they won’t stop there. They want to impeach a…

Scott DesJarlais: ‘Radical Element’ Behind Impeachment Inquiry

Members of Tennessee’s Congressional delegation were quick to opine Tuesday on Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s impeachment inquiry of U.S. Republican President Donald Trump. Democrats endorsed the impeachment inquiry, while Republicans vowed to support the president. Scott DesJarlais, a Republican representing Tennessee’s Fourth Congressional District, sent out a press release Tuesday saying this is not what the American people want. “Before and after last year’s midterm elections, a few of us predicted Democrat leadership would fall prey to their most strident members and move to impeach President Trump.  Sadly, having accomplished nothing but fruitless investigations in this Congress, Speaker Pelosi has allowed this radical element to dictate another partisan investigation,” DesJarlais said. “An overwhelming majority of the American public rejects impeachment. However, some individuals, who still cannot accept that their candidate lost the 2016 presidential election, are pursuing a purely political agenda. Congress must reject it.” Meanwhile, Steve Cohen, a Democrat who represents Tennessee’s Ninth Congressional District, had a different mindset. “Today is a historic day for our nation. The President has breached his oath, violated the law and risked our national security. This week we learned that the President has abused his power and broken the law by pressuring a foreign government…

Bill Hagerty Slams Rep. Cooper for Embracing Impeachment

Bill Hagerty, a candidate for U.S. Senate in Tennessee, criticized Rep. Jim Cooper (D-TN-05) in a Tuesday statement for joining Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN-09) in calling for the impeachment of President Donald Trump. Hagerty, President Trump’s former U.S. ambassador to Japan, said it was “disappointing” to see Cooper embrace “the Squad and other radical liberals’ call for impeachment.” “A clear majority of House Democrats, led by Nancy Pelosi and ‘The Squad,’ are calling for impeachment, and now that includes both of Tennessee’s Democrat Congressman,” Hagerty said in a press release. “It’s disappointing to see both Jim Cooper and Steve Cohen join in tearing down President Trump, rather than working with him to make life better for Tennessee families.” “As your Senator, I will help President Trump keep winning for Tennessee families, and I will always stand with him against the radical socialist agenda that seeks to destroy our conservative values,” he added. The statement comes in response to the growing number of moderate Democrats who are coming out in support of pursuing an impeachment inquiry. As reported Tuesday morning, two Minnesota Democrats representing suburban swing districts released statements in support of impeachment. The growing support for impeachment is based…

US House Passes $15 an Hour Minimum Wage

House lawmakers voted Wednesday to raise the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour. In a vote that mostly followed party lines, House members passed the Raise The Wage Act, the first minimum wage increase since 2009. The measure has not yet come up in the Senate. The bill would more than double the national minimum wage over the next 6 years, a marked increase from the current $7.25 federal minimum wage. The bill would also raise the minimum wage for tipped employees to the same level from the current $2.13 an hour. In the 231-to-199 vote, three Republican representatives joined the majority and voted for the bill, while six Democrats voted against it. “This is about workers, it’s about their economic and financial security and today is a bright day because it affects so many people in our country,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told reporters at a news conference. Skepticism While the vote was nearly unanimous by Democrats, some members were skeptical. Democrats Tom O’Halleran of Arizona and Stephanie Murphy of Florida introduced an amendment that would mandate the Government Accountability Office to track the bill’s effects and report to the House before the entire wage increase is…
