Faith and Freedom Coalition Congratulates New Speaker of the House

The Faith and Freedom Coalition (FFC) released a statement Wednesday congratulating Louisiana U.S. Representative Mike Johnson (R-LA-04) after he was elected the 56th Speaker of the House.

The FCC is a national grassroots movement made up of over 2 million conservatives and people of faith.

“The Faith & Freedom Coalition congratulates Mike Johnson on being elected Speaker of the House today. Speaker Johnson has demonstrated his commitment to defending freedom, protecting life, and promoting limited government. We look forward to seeing the House get back to serving the American people under his leadership,” Timothy Head, Executive Director of the FFC said.

Johnson, after being elected Speaker, said he will “ensure the House delivers results and inspires change for the American people.”

“It is the honor of a lifetime to have been elected the 56th Speaker of the House. Thank you to my colleagues, friends, staff, and family for the unmatched support throughout this process…The urgency of this moment demands bold, decisive action to restore trust, advance our legislative priorities, and demonstrate good governance. Our House Republican Conference is united, and eager to work,” Johnson said.

“We will restore trust in this body. We will advance a comprehensive conservative policy agenda, combat the harmful policies of the Biden Administration, and support our allies abroad. And we will restore sanity to a government desperately in need of it. Let’s get back to work,” Johnson added.

During his first speech to his colleagues after being elected, Johnson also spoke passionately about his faith.

“I don’t believe there are any coincidences in a matter like this. I believe that scripture, the bible, is very clear: that God is the one that raises up those in authority. He raised up each of you – all of us. And I believe that God has ordained and allowed each one of us to be brought here for this specific moment and this time…I believe that each one of us has a huge responsibility today – to use the gifts that God has given us to serve the extraordinary people of this great country and they deserve it,” Johnson said.
