Soros-Funded District Attorney Carjacked in His Own City

A progressive district attorney who was backed by far-left billionaire George Soros was recently carjacked at gunpoint in his own city, proving to be an ironic display of soft-on-crime policies backfiring on their own advocates.

As the Daily Caller reports, New Orleans District Attorney Jason Williams (D-La.) and his 78-year-old mother were accosted by two criminals on Monday, with one pointing a gun at them as they tried to get into Williams’ car. After stealing the DA’s car, the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) confirmed that the suspects abandoned it in an undisclosed location and proceeded to carjack another victim, a young woman, in the same area roughly 30 minutes later.

Critics Blast DOJ Funding for Projects Tailored to Gender, Sexuality Politics

A taxpayer-funded grant from the Department of Justice distributed $150,000 to “amplify the voices” of transgender people in New Orleans who are accusing the police of discrimination.

Based on the assumption that LGBT people of color are discriminated against by police, Rutgers University researchers pledged to find 25 subjects and “conduct narrative interviews” to document their experiences. This study is one of many examples of taxpayer-funded federal research dollars going to projects tailored to progressive gender and sexuality politics.

Group Names Chicago, New Orleans as U.S. Murder Capitals

Chicago recorded 697 total homicides in 2022, far more than any other city in the United States, but New Orleans had the highest murder rate per capita, according to a new report from a nonprofit research group. 

Chicago had more total homicides in 2022 than Philadelphia (516), New York City (438), Houston (435) and Los Angeles (382), which rounded out the top five, according to a report from Wirepoints, an Illinois-based research and news organization that surveyed 2022 crime data from 75 of the largest U.S. cities.
