Michael Patrick Leahy Endorses Candidate Lonnie Spivak for Davidson County Republican Chair

Live from Music Row, Wednesday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. – host Leahy welcomed Lonnie Spivak in studio to endorse him as the next chairman of the Davidson County Republican Party.

Leahy: Well, Lonnie, do you want to make some news right now?

Spivak: Sure.

Leahy: By the way, how do people reach your campaign? Do you have a Facebook page or website?

Spivak: You can find me on Facebook. Lonnie Spivak. I’m on Twitter @Lonniespivak. You can email [email protected].

Leahy: We want to make a little bit of news.

Spivak: I’d love to.

Yes, Every Kid

Leahy: All right, ladies and gentlemen, in our listening audience, I want everyone. I don’t think I’ve ever actually endorsed people. I’ve told people who I voted for. I’ve told people I’m voting for Donald Trump in 2016 and 2020 from this radio program.

I told people here that I was going to vote to retain Supreme Court Justice Jeff Bivens because I know Jeff, and he’s a really good guy and a great Supreme Court justice.

But I don’t know if I’ve ever endorsed anybody publicly before. I am going to do that. It could be for the very first time publicly. Lonnie Spivak. I am endorsing Lonnie Spivak right now to be the new chairman of the Davidson County Republican Party because Lonnie is a good man and a competent man. He’s got a plan.

And we need somebody who’s got a plan to turn around the Republican Party in Davidson County. So, Lonnie Spivak, my friend, I endorse you for the chairmanship of the Davidson County Republican Party.

Spivak: I’m so honored to be the first person you’ve ever publicly endorsed. And if I win, I really hope that I’ll be the one who takes Nashville to the next level. I’m telling people that I’m really only planning to do this for one term, and

I’ll either have a great blueprint on how to be successful in Davidson County as a Republican, or I’ll have a long list of what not to do. But either way, it’s going to be fun. We’re going to shake some trees. (Leahy chuckles) We’re going to break some dishes. But in the end, I really think that we will have a great, strong Republican Party.

Leahy: The term is how many years?

Spivak: The term is two years. And I really honestly don’t think my wife will stand it if I do any longer.

Leahy: So you’re committing to a two-year term and then you’re going to develop leaders who can take over.

Spivak: That is my plan. That is my hope, as at working with the Young Republicans and the other ancillary groups that we find some great talent who are willing to step up into a successful party.

Leahy: Lonnie Spivak, who I have just endorsed to be the chairman of the Davidson County Republican Party. The election is on February 11th.
