‘Pray for Truth and Pray for Trump’ Rally Planned for Downtown Nashville as Congress Meets to Certify Electoral College Vote

A prayer-centered rally will take place at Tennessee’s State Capitol ahead of the Electoral College vote certification. The event organizers intended it to be an alternative for those unable to attend the rally supporting President Donald Trump in Washington, D.C.

A virtual promotional flyer obtained by The Tennessee Star explained that the event would offer “prayer and truth for Trump.”

“Please join us in prayer for the restoration and protection of our beloved United States of America,” read the flyer.

State Senator Mark Pody (R-Lebanon) informed The Star that Representative Bruce Griffey (R-Paris) helped organize the event. The two agreed that prayer would be the primary focus.

“One of the best ways we know we can get involved is through prayer,” stated Pody. “We’ll be praying for the truth to come out, as well as for our government leaders – including President Trump, because he’s still our President.”

Pody added that some of the speakers would include Pastor Ben Graham and Moms for Tennessee President Cecelia DeSonia.

“There’s a point and time when all of us have to say, ‘What is it that we’re going to accept or not accept?’ Sometimes it’s time for people to stand up so that our opponents know that we won’t sit down and take this, we’ll take time out of our lives to fight for the truth,” stated Pody. “We’re not going to be bullied, suckered, or lied to – we are going to seek the truth.”

DeSonia confirmed with The Star that the rally will engage extensively in prayer.

“This is a prayer rally – we are gathering to pray for our Congress and Senate and the decision that they have to make, the future of our country, and election integrity,” stated DeSonia. “I’m praying for God’s will for this country and peace.”

DeSonia had another message for the mothers and their families contemplating attendance at the rally.

“My message for moms of Tennessee is that I would like mothers that are concerned about the future of this country to recognize that their motherhood is a high calling from God, and that their children are the future of this country, and that they have the power to shape the next generation,” said DeSonia.

As The Tennessee Star reported previously, the organizers of this rally have participated in several other Stop the Steal rallies since Election Day at the state’s capitol. On Sunday, around 1,000 individuals rallied in downtown Franklin during a “March for Trump” event. During the event, organizers arranged travel plans for Wednesday’s rally in D.C.

The rally will begin at noon on Wednesday.
