Ohio Prayer Rally ‘To Save Children from Abortion and Genital Mutilation’ Amendment Draws Nation’s Top Catholic Speakers

An organization of faithful Catholics has drawn the nation’s top Catholic speakers to its Ohio prayer rally Sunday to “save children from abortion up to birth and genital mutilation without parental consent,” as allowed by the proposed ballot amendment to the state Constitution known as Issue 1.

Catholics for Catholics, a group that helped organize the Los Angeles Dodgers prayer rally to protest the club’s decision to honor the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, an anti-Catholic group of queer and transgender “nuns,” has now orchestrated the “Rosary Rally” that seeks to defeat “the diabolical effort to codify abortion-on-demand and genital mutilation in the Ohio State constitution.”

Speakers at the Catholics for Catholics rally include Sound of Freedom star Jim Caviezel; Ltg. Michael Flynn, senior advisor for Catholics for Catholics; national pro-life leader Abby Johnson, founder of And Then There Were None; and Bishop Joseph Strickland of Tyler, Texas.

“With God, everything is possible,” Johnson told The Star News Network. “I’m going to Ohio to encourage people to protect their families, their parental rights, and the most innocent among us. We have to stand up for what’s right and true, especially in a world that is increasingly hostile to the message of Jesus. I pray for a positive outcome in Ohio and one that does not enshrine abortion anywhere in the state constitution.”

LifeSiteNews reported on Strickland’s defense of the teachings of the Catholic Church in the public square:

Yes, Every Kid

Bishop Strickland is one of America’s most outspoken bishops on the moral and cultural issues that are threatening children, marriage, families, and the integrity of the faith. He prominently led a Eucharistic procession outside of Dodger Stadium in June on the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in protest against the Dodgers’ scandalous honoring of the anti-Catholic “drag nuns” called the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.

The rally is scheduled for the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, 3:00-6:00 p.m. Eastern, at Dori Field in Norwood, Ohio.

Ohio voters will vote on August 8 in a special election on a proposal that would make it harder to amend the state Constitution.

In that special election, voters will decide whether the state should require 60% of voters to pass new constitutional amendments rather than the current simple majority of 50 percent plus one.

Republican lawmakers in Ohio pressed for the special election in advance of a possible November ballot question that would codify the right to abortion at any time during pregnancy in the state and eliminate parental consent requirements.

If voters approve, the Ohio ballot initiative would clear the way for abortion through all nine months of pregnancy and end parental involvement in minor children’s medical decisions, including so-called “gender-affirmation” hormones and surgeries.

Catholics for Catholics provides further details about next week’s special election:

The Prayer Rally hopes to encourage ALL Christians in Ohio to VOTE “YES” on Issue 1. The event is strategically taking place two days before the crucial election beginning on August 8th. Voting YES will protect Ohio’s Constitution and save children from abortion up to birth and genital mutilation without parental consent. Why is this so important to you? If Ohio falls, your state is next. Whichever way Ohio votes, so will the country.

“As a country, we need to win this battle in Ohio,” the faith group states. “This Prayer Rally is just as important to your state. The buck must stop here at the Buckeye State!”
