Commentary: The Nihilism of the Left

The last 14 months have offered one of the rare occasions in recent American history when the hard Left has operated all the levers of federal government. The presidency, the House of Representatives, the Senate, and the permanent bureaucratic state are all in progressive hands. And the result is a disaster that is uniting Americans in their revulsion of elitists whose crazy ideas are tearing apart the fabric of the country.

For understandable reasons, socialists and leftists are usually kept out of the inner circles of the Democratic Party, and especially kept away from control of the country. A now resuscitated Bernie Sanders for most of his political career was an inert outlier. The brief flirtations with old-style hardcore liberals such as George McGovern in 1972 and Mike Dukakis in 1988 imploded the Democratic Party. Their crash-and-burn campaigns were followed by corrective nominees who actually won the presidency: Southern governors Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton.

Such was the nation’s innate distrust of the Left, and in particular the East Coast elite liberal. For nearly half a century between the elections of John F. Kennedy and Barack Obama, it was assumed that no Democratic presidential candidate could win the popular vote unless he had a reassuring Southern accent.

But all Plato’s wisdom proved worthless. He was lucky to escape Syracuse with his life. Although Dionysius II knew everything, he also knew nothing. Theory is not reality. Logic is not experience. Knowledge is not skill. Dionysius never realized that his knowledge was ignorance, and his ignorance, knowledge. He died in disgrace. This lesson remains true today, particularly in the field of economics. For example, although international free trade looks like a good theory, it seldom works in reality. Why? The FBI Doesn’t Want Users to Know Who Hacked Facebook

by Gavin Hanson   The FBI has asked Facebook not to reveal who may be behind a recent hack that exposed highly sensitive personal information of 14 million users, according to a Facebook security update Friday. A hack on Facebook, which originally was reported to have affected 50 million users, now has been confirmed to have only affected 30 million. That said, the hack “appears to be the worst hack in Facebook’s 14-year history,” according to Business Insider’s Rob Price. Hackers took advantage of an intersection of three different and distinct bugs in Facebook’s website to gain “access tokens” to users’ accounts, according to Guy Rosen, the vice president of product management at Facebook. “We’re cooperating with the FBI, which is actively investigating and asked us not to discuss who may be behind this attack,” Rosen wrote in a post entitled “An Update on the Security Issue.” “Access tokens are the equivalent of digital keys that keep people logged in to Facebook so they don’t need to re-enter their password every time they use the app,” according to Rosen. Commentary: Democrats Must Pay for Treating Americans Like Addle Brained Idiots

The “they” in the question above refers to members of the Democrat Party, a conglomeration of self-interested politicians and leftist interest groups h–l-bent on the destruction of American decorum and time-honored traditions (such as the presumption of innocence and due process). If you listened to Democrats Brett Kavanaugh’s uncorroborated high school behavior is not only grounds for denying him a seat on the United States Supreme Court, he should also be tossed in the pokey for perjury. If a person carrying a grudge from everyone’s past were to come forward making histrionic claims (about something one did almost four decades ago) it’s safe to say no one would be eligible for consideration in the Democrats’ minds…unless you’re a member of their party of course. A host of Democrats past and present have pending weighty accusations against them yet nothing seems to bother Democrat supporters when it comes time to vote.
