Arizona Illegal Immigrant Nonprofit Awarded $7.5 Million Under Gallego Spent Nearly $1 Million on Executive Pay, $4 Million on Bus Transport

The nonprofit that provides services to illegal immigrants inside the United States, and will receive $7.5 million according to an announcement made by Representative Ruben Gallego (D-AZ-03), paid its top executive nearly $1 million in 2023, and spent an additional almost $4 million on one passenger transportation company.

A federal tax document filed in 2023 reveals the Regional Center for Border Health, Inc., which Gallego reported received $7.5 million of the border community support funding he helped secure, paid a total of more than $1 million in salaries to just three top employees.

The president of the Arizona nonprofit that Representative Ruben Gallego (D-AZ-03) announced will receive $7.5 million in federal funding last month was appointed to a national advisory role by President Joe Biden the next day.

Gallego announced last month the Regional Center for Border Health, which is focused in Yuma County, would receive $7.5 million of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) funding he reported securing on August 28.

$7.5 Million in Arizona Border Funding Secured by Rep. Ruben Gallego Destined for Nonprofit Aiding Illegal Immigrants Adjust to America

More than $7.5 million of the border community funding announced by Representative Ruben Gallego (D-AZ-03) last month will be given to a nonprofit that reportedly helps illegal immigrants transition to life in the United States while waiting for their asylum cases to be adjudicated in a process that can take up to seven years.

The funding is part of the $47.3 million in funding Gallego announced on August 28 that he secured for Arizona under the Department of Homeland Security’s Shelter and Services Program (SSP).

According to Gallego’s office, about $38 million of the funding will go to the State of Arizona and Pima County, but a press release reveals $7.5 million is set to be distributed to the Regional Center for Border Health, Inc., which ABC 15 Arizona reported in March has created a “transition center for migrants.”
