Commentary: Is Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein Still Smirking?

Rod Rosenstein

by CHQ Staff   Yesterday, Rep. Jim Jordan grilled Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein about the documents he has been withholding from Congress, as Rosenstein smirked his way through the questioning by Jordan, and Representatives Trey Gowdy and Louie Gohmert. You can watch the full exchange between Jordan and Rosenstein through this link to C-SPAN. “Mr. Rosenstein, why are you keeping information from Congress?” Jordan asked in a particularly heated exchange, reported by our friend Rachel Stolzfoos of the Federalist. “I want to know why you won’t give us what we asked for,” Jordan said. Rosenstein called Jordan’s characterization “inaccurate,” causing Jordan to erupt. “It is accurate!” he exclaimed. “We have caught you hiding!” Jordan dismissed the Deputy AG’s denials the DOJ is hiding anything, asserting that the House vote would dispute that notion. “I think in a few minutes the House of Representatives is going to go on record saying you haven’t complied with requests from a separate and equal branch of government, that you haven’t complied with subpoenas, and you got seven days to get your act together.” Jordan accused Rosenstein of instructing FBI agent Peter Strzok — who testified before the House Judiciary and Oversight Committees — not…

Commentary: Rep Jim Jordan Exposes Speaker Paul Ryan’s Dirty Little Secret on Amnesty Vote

Jim Jordan, Paul Ryan

by CHQ Staff   Principled limited government constitutional conservative Representative Jim Jordan was on CBS News’ Face the Nation on Sunday morning and he exposed a dirty little secret that the establishment would like to hide from the 70+ percent of Americans who want the strict immigration enforcement that President Trump promised during the 2016 campaign. What Rep. Jordan said was this: “…if our leadership had put the same whip effort behind that immigration legislation, Chairman Goodlette’s legislation, it would have passed.” The legislation to which Jordan referred is H.R. 4760, the Securing America’s Future Act often referred to as “the Goodlatte bill.” The bill was introduced in January by Chairman Goodlatte, House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-Texas), House Judiciary Committee Immigration and Border Security Subcommittee Chairman Raúl Labrador (R-Idaho) to bolster enforcement of existing immigration law, makes important reforms to our legal immigration programs, secure the border, and provide a legislative solution for the current beneficiaries of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. The Goodlatte bill was far from perfect, but it earned the support of many conservatives because it came the closest to covering all four pillars of President Trump’s immigration reform plan: building the Wall, ending chain…

Commentary: Amnesty Push Proves We Need Jim Jordan As Speaker

Jim Jordan, Paul Ryan

by CHQ Staff   Our friends at the Eagle Forum, the principled grassroots constitutional conservative group founded by the late First Lady of the conservative movement Phyllis Schlafly, recently came out strongly in favor of Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio to replace the retiring RINO Paul Ryan as Speaker of the House. One of the key points in the organization’s email to its grassroots membership bears passing on and echoing by every conservative opinion leader: –          If the “compromise [amnesty for illegal aliens] bill” passes, this will not fare well for Republicans in the upcoming November elections.  If Democrats gain control of the House, a much more liberal bill without any border security will be inevitable. –          Republicans would not have been in this situation if we had true Conservative Leadership in the House.  Speaker Ryan, Leader McCarthy, and Whip Scalise have all had a hand in allowing this fight to become so moderate.  This is the perfect time to encourage support for Rep. Jim Jordan for Speaker. –          Our grassroots advocates are very upset by the illegal immigration crisis and are confused by the flip-flop of Congress on this issue.  They will be motivated to voice their support for…

More Than 100 Conservatives Call For Jordan To Run For Speaker

Jim Jordan, Paul Ryan

by Robert Donachie   A coalition of more than 100 conservatives sent a letter to House Freedom Caucus (HFC) co-founder Jim Jordan Monday urging him to throw his name in to replace outgoing Speaker of the House Paul Ryan. “There must be a real race for Speaker of the House. Now. No backroom deals. A real race, starting this spring, to make every incumbent and candidate commit on the record, as a campaign issue, whether they’ll vote to save the Swamp or drain it,” the letter reads. “America needs you to declare yourself as a candidate for Speaker at once. We write to you on behalf of millions of Americans who want Congress to Drain the Swamp.” Ryan rattled Capitol Hill in April when he announced he will retire from the House after nearly 20 years in Congress, telling reporters he wanted to spend more time with his family and pursue other opportunities. Two of the top House Republicans — House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy of California and House Majority Whip Steve Scalise of Louisiana — are angling for the position, but neither thought to have a guaranteed lock on the speakership. McCarthy failed to garner the 218 required votes to…

Commentary: Conservatives Unanimous For Change in Support of Jordan for Speaker

Jim Jordan, Paul Ryan

CHQ Staff   Conservatives are hoping Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) will decide to challenge Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) for speaker, according to a poll by FedUp PAC. Showing near-unanimity, almost 99% agree that Jordan would be more likely to successfully move President Trump’s conservative-populist agenda through the House. Less than one-half of one percent believe McCarthy would do a better job. Jordan is a member of the conservative Freedom Caucus and has been a leader in the fight to cut spending, protect the Second Amendment, repeal ObamaCare, and deport illegal aliens. McCarthy is closely tied to the Washington GOP establishment and would be expected to follow Ryan’s policy of distancing himself from Trump and the conservative agenda. His previous attempt to become speaker collapsed for lack of conservative support. The contrast between Jordan and McCarthy was easily seen when Congress passed its most recent spending bill. McCarthy was a strong supporter of the $1.3 trillion bill which eliminated the budget caps adopted in 2011, funded many Democratic priorities, and was supported by a majority of House Democrats. Jordan opposed the bill, and Trump threatened to veto it until he decided that the need for more military spending justified his very…

Conservatives Want a House Speaker Who Will Deliver on Promised Reforms

by Rachel del Guidice   Conservative lawmakers say they want the next speaker of the House to be committed to issues Republicans ran on, and to making important procedural reforms. “More important than who the speaker is next year is what Republicans do this year,” Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, told The Daily Signal. “And if we don’t get focused on and stay focused on what the American people elected us to do,” Jordan said, “then there’s not going to be a race for a Republican speaker. It will be a race for who is the minority leader. So that is what we have to be focused on.” Jordan and two other House conservatives spoke recently with The Daily Signal about what they want to see in House Speaker Paul Ryan’s successor. The lawmakers and two GOP aides emphasized following through on issues Republicans campaigned on in 2016 and earlier, including repealing Obamacare, fixing the immigration system and building a border wall, and reforming welfare programs. [ The liberal Left continue to push their radical agenda against American values. The good news is there is a solution. Find out more ] As for changes in process, one senior aide said, conservatives want more clarity…

House Freedom Fund Endorses Judd Matheny in 6th Congressional District GOP Primary

The House Freedom Fund has endorsed State Rep. Judd Matheny in th 6th Congressional District Republican primary to replace Rep. Diane Black (R-TN-06), who is running for governor. “I’m very proud to announce the House Freedom Fund’s endorsement of Judd Matheny for Congress in Tennessee’s 6th district,” Jim Jordan (R-OH), chairman of the House Freedom Fund (HFF) said in a press release: Judd currently serves as a State Representative in the Tennessee legislature where he has a proven record of fighting for conservative policies. He has led efforts to stop sanctuary cities, protext the unborn, defend the Second Amendment, and block Common Core. Judd also is a veteran of the Tennessee Army National Guard and a former local and state law enforcement member. He now owns a small recycling business with 69 employees. He values the rule of law and understands whey we need to get the government off the backs of small businesses. I have gotten to know Judd over the past year and I know that he will help fight for conservative principles and values if he’s elected. The 6th district is solidly Republican so if Judd wins the primary he will be heavily favored to win the…

EXCLUSIVE: U.S. House Freedom Caucus Members Fundraising In Nashville For Conservatives

NASHVILLE, Tennessee – House Freedom Caucus leader Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH), along with members Dave Brat (R-Virginia), Ralph Norman (R-SC) and Scott Perry (R-PA) accompanied Tennessee’s 4th District Scott DesJarlais to a Fundraising Reception held in Nashville to benefit the House Freedom Fund. The House Freedom Fund is a Political Action Committee (PAC), with Jordan serving as Chairman, that “helps elect rock-solid conservative candidates to the U.S. House of Representatives.” All five Congressman made comments in front of the group of attendees and then mingled amongst them, making their rounds to speak with everyone on an individual basis over the course of a couple of hours. All expressed optimism for the future as well as support for each other, fellow Freedom Caucus members and President Trump. The comments addressed a variety of topics including current legislative issues of Obamacare repeal and tax reform as well as some of their individual experiences since being in Washington, D.C. Congressman DesJarlais, who holds the highest conservative scorecard ratings of the entire Tennessee delegation, said of the event, “I’m glad my colleagues could experience some Tennessee hospitality, while we plan for the future.” He continued, The event was an opportunity for conservatives to come…
