Governor Brian P. Kemp (R) touted a record start to the fiscal year that the Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) has seen, as it handled 530,800 container units in July for an increase of 18 percent.

A state lawmaker is helping a private company find actors and actresses during an open casting call event for a trio of Savannah-based film projects.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Georgia announced on Thursday that The National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN) has aided the undercover law enforcement effort, dubbed “Operation United Front,” in the indictment of a third person that was involved in narcotics distribution and the illegal possession of weapons.

Georgia Felon Sentenced to More Than 50 Years in Prison for Violent Crime Spree

Federal officials in Savannah have sentenced a violent felon to more than 50 years in federal prison for attempted robbery, carjacking, and firearms offenses in Chatham and Ware counties. Court officials also said that that man, Alfred Wisher, 39, of Savannah sexually abused a juvenile at gunpoint during his crime spree.
