Virginia Tech DEI Director May Have Violated School Policy in Forwarding Email Slamming School Board Candidates over Youngkin Policies

A diversity, equity, and inclusion officer at a leading university in southeastern Virginia may have violated her school’s policy by using work email to forward a message slamming conservative school board candidates as “hateful” and urging readers to canvass for the candidates’ opponents shortly before early voting begins.

One school board member targeted in the forwarded email told The Daily Signal that she is considering a lawsuit.

Political Consultants with Minnesota DFL Ties Form New Organization to Support School Board Candidates

A new organization fronted by two Democrat-allied political consultants has entered the battleground for political control of school boards holding elections this fall.

The Minneapolis-based School Board Integrity Project was officially formed in May. Its mission, according to its website, is to help “guide potential and registered candidates and incumbents who align with our principles and equip them with the tools they need in their ‘campaign toolboxes’ in order to run successful school board campaigns.”

DeSantis-Endorsed School Board Candidates Win in Florida

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican, won reelection by almost 20 points, and all six of the school board candidates he endorsed have prevailed Tuesday. DeSantis had previously endorsed 24 candidates in school board races, all of whom won.

While school board races are historically nonpartisan, parents’ outrage over critical race theory, transgender activism, and COVID-19 lockdowns in schools have galvanized a parental rights movement that Republicans largely support and Democrats largely oppose. The parents rights group Moms for Liberty also endorsed many of the candidates DeSantis backed.

Maricopa County Grassroots Republican PCs Provide ‘Golden Tickets’ to Guide Arizona Voters, Sparking Accusations of Far-Right Radicalism

Some grassroots Republicans in Legislative District (LD) 3 (previously 23 before redistricting), located predominantly in Scottsdale, put together a “Golden Ticket” for voters in their district this year listing which candidates to vote for and which ballot measures to support in the Nov. 8 election. They expanded it to include as many LDs as they could obtain information for, and now have almost all 30 LD Golden Tickets posted. However, some Republicans are loudly objecting, including Nancy Ordowski, the First Vice Chair of LD 3, and there is some opposition to limiting the endorsements for the Paradise Valley Unified School District Governing Board (PVUSDGB). 

Maricopa County GOP Member-at-Large Brian Ference, who was substantially involved in preparing the Golden Tickets, designing the One Day Vote website for them, told The Arizona Sun Times he believes those objecting are “RINOs” who are disgruntled that their gubernatorial candidate Karrin Taylor Robson lost the primary to Trump-endorsed Kari Lake.

GOP Senate Candidate Timken’s Leadership PAC Backed 21 Ohio School Board Winners Among 43 Funded Candidates

Republican primary candidate for U.S. Senate Jane Timken said her political action committee (PAC)’s support for supporting conservative candidates for Ohio school boards helped 21 candidates win seats at the November 2 ballot boxes across the state.

Her Jobs for A New Economy Political Action Committee supported 43 school board candidates throughout the state this fall with donations as well as providing field support, robocalls and text messaging assistance in the weeks and days leading up to the election.
