City of Murfreesboro Closes on Property Sale for New Amphitheater

The City of Murfreesboro recently announced that it has finalized closing with Sunset on the Stones River LLC on property along Medical Center Parkway for development of the multi-million-dollar Sunset on the Stones River amphitheater campus.

In May, the City of Murfreesboro announced the partnership with Notes Live to open the Sunset on the Stones River amphitheater.

As previously reported by The Tennessee Star, the state-of-the-art, open-air amphitheater in the Murfreesboro Gateway will feature stadium-style seating and casual lawn seating alongside firepit suites for hosting large touring acts. The campus will also feature a Bourbon Brothers Smokehouse and Tavern as well as a Boot Barn Hall, capable of hosting up to 1,400 people indoors.

It is estimated that the venues will hire approximately 150-200 employees and host 800,000 patrons annually.

The city’s finalization of closing follows its approval in August of a finalized development agreement with Notes Live, Inc., to open the 4,500-seat, state-of-the-art open-air amphitheater in the Murfreesboro Gateway.

“We are pleased to close on the transfer of land for this exciting agreement to bring high-quality entertainment featuring live music,” Murfreesboro Mayor Shane McFarland said in a statement. “The development will add an attractive amenity to our City. We cannot wait to see construction get underway along with necessary infrastructure enhancements to Medical Center Parkway.”

Yes, Every Kid

The sale of the land resulted in the City of Murfreesboro receiving a promissory note in the amount of $3,267,000, payable over twenty (20) years in installments of $163,350. After the first installment is paid on July 1st, successive installments will be due on each July 1st thereafter, the city added in a press release.

Construction of the campus is expected to begin in January.

“We are excited to be working with the City of Murfreesboro on the first fully integrated Notes Live entertainment complex,” Notes Live founder and CEO JW Roth said in a statement. “With the Sunset on the Stones River Amphitheater, Boot Barn Hall and Bourbon Brothers Smokehouse and Tavern, Notes Live has something for every resident in Murfreesboro and middle Tennessee. We are looking forward to seeing our new friends in January when we expect to break ground along the Stones River.”
